Opening day report

What an opener it was! Started off on the Ottawa with a little friendly tournament between a few good buddies. We ended up with 6+lbs for a total of 2 fish, including a 3.10 smallie on the popper, taking home the bragging rights until the next tournament.

Woke up bright and early Saturday morning, hooked up the boat and off I went with John to a lake we were both very excited to fish. On the water by 8, we were greeted by thousands of trees, stumps and lily pad patches. After the first fish on the 5th cast, we knew it was going to be a good day. First couple of fish were caught in this area

The 6'9 Kistler Carbon steel rod really helped for accurate casting during the whole day without tiring my arm, due to its lightweight

We were fishing stumps and trees most of the morning, which produced dozens of 1-2lbs bass on chartreuse senkos with black flake, freshly poured the night before by Rico. That added scent he included in the senkos greatly helped us putting more bass in the boat. (We finished the package by the end of the afternoon  ) A piece of structure like this on any lake makes for some great fishing!

Out on the main lake, we hit a couple back bays that produced some nice topwater largies and some on dingers as well.

We also flipped some nice deep weed lines which produced fish of better caliber like this pig. The 7' Kistler Helium in heavy action was a must in order to pull these largies out of the heavy weeds, especially in deeper water.

All in all, a great combination of good company, amazing scenery, good numbers of bass and being surrounded by loon calls for the whole day all made for the best bass opener I ever had. Hope you enjoyed!

Some nice fish!
I think I know that lake, does it start with the letter C? If so, the stump field is a bass factory.
