When the ice has melted.... where do most people go for the 1st spring fishing outing? I presume to chase walleye somewhere?

Ottawa River? Calabogie? 3 Mile Lake? Big Rideau?

This will be my first year with a fishing boat.... so I'm trying to plan an early trip! javascript:emoticon(':D')

April 23rd in QC marks the start for trout... and I will be in my car with my boat attached leaving my driveway April 22nd @ 11:59pm!!!! (I will be going to a couple of secret farmer only lakes!!)

I am not waiting until May 21st to start fishing when Pike and Walleye open... the wait would likely kill me.

See how many trout I can boat in those days leading up to May 21st!!

Just surfing the mrnf site (QC gov site) and noticed that zones 12 and 13(east and west) open bass for two weeks in April (The 1st to the 15th).

Now to find some bodies of water that are not outfitter monopolized in those zones.

As soon as the ice is out I will be fishing locally for panfish however the first trip of the year is May 14th for walleye on Rice lake. I would go opening weekend however that is Mother's Day and my wife would probably shoot me if I went that weekend.

I usually try to get me and the wife out for a crappie trip or two.

I plan to get serious with the 'eyes after they open on the St. Lawrence.

I've never tried it, but I have been giving ice out lake trout a serious bit of consideration for this year. Just have to figure out where I will launch.

Dropshotter,

Those are speckled trout. Quebec Reds are landlocked arctic char.
