Ottawa Ice Fishing Tournament. Interest???

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Ottawa Ice Fishing Tournament. Interest???

Rico and I are looking to organize an ice fishing tournament somewhere mid-December (the weekend of the 12-13, depending on ice conditions).Nothing is official yet, just want to see if the interest is there. It would be at Petrie Island, in Orleans. Entry fee would be $20 with 100% payout. Payout structure would be
- 1st place: 50%
- 2nd place: 30%
- 3rd place: 20%

We're still thinking about the tournament format so any help is appreciated. It would be something like best weight or lenght combination of crappies and bluegills anywhere within the Islands. The tournament can be fished alone or in teams of 2 ($40 for the team)

It's not a huge tournament, just a get together on ice with a bunch of FHers and see who can earn bragging rights.

Feel free to shoot out ideas and we'll see what we can come up with.

Constance Lake for Perch and Panfish. That lake seems to be one of the first to ice up and is very accessable without having to go very far to set up. Plus the facilities are there to get out of the cold if you like.

How about the first week in January? Just because it will be safeer for the group. ( I guess if we get -25c for 3 weeks before it doesn't matter).

Just a thought

You guys are funny :lol:Great idea Nodie. I would be game and at Petrie for sure :!: Huge fish in these waters and I can't think of a better place in Ottawa that would be suitable for an ice fishing event seeing as though all the facilities are so close and Oli works here. Great fishing theres no denying that...It's for one day :lol:

Crappies and Bluegills eh :shock:

i would deffinitly think about joining
iv never fished for crappie or any panfish in the winter
would deffinitly be a good experience
