Kanickle on Large Rideau

Went out yesterday with Plowjock to wash some lure son the big rideau.
Couldn't have asked for a better day sunny warm a bit of wind.

We started fishing some deep weedlines and transiton areas. We were rewarded with some nice chunky smallies.

Next up were more deep weedlines this time a nice largie. We managed to put a few in the boat then the bite turned off from about 1:45 till 3:15.

Why so precise? Well I was getting a little bored, I washed a lot of lures and was running out of dirty ones to clean.

We decide to head in but not before insepctiong an area we hadn't looked at before, And it was on the way in to the launch.

What we found was a nice 20 fow transition to 8 fow with nice healthy weeds.

We had been mainly drop shotting (doesn't work don't try it) but when I saw the weds @ 8' I switched to a wacky worm. I ahd been throwing a whit worm but it was really not working so I switched up to a secret colour. One I did not show Plowjock

No sooner had I tossed it out when I felt small tic then a slam!

Nice - a nickle (weighed on a berkley digital scale) and a largie at that! Measured 20" and really fat!

That fish is just the Cream of the Crop. (not in fish chowder)
You get out , what you put into it.
For Norm that is close to his 25th time out this summer. For me it was my 75th time out. Had a lot of success this year and still 2 months to go. heading for 100 trips this season.
Power of Observation also pays great dividends.
Live and learn.
I still have a lot of learning to do so I deduct that I'm going to live for a long time yet.
Use of expensive, sensitive rods really do help when you have cement hands.
Let's keep the season rolling.
