What happens if you don't get your card before the 15th of September?? I have kids that want to get their's but it won't be before the 15th?

If you don't have your card before Sept 15th and require one, then you cannot boat or operate a Personal Water Craft. If you do so, and get caught doing so without it, you could face a fine of $250.
I don't think using an excuse like "I haven't had a chance yet" will work unfortunately. The requirement for an Operator card has been promoted for the past 3 years, with the final deadline for "all" boaters to have one by Sept 15, 2009.

How long does it take to recieve your card? Or I guess more accurately, if I take the test tonight, do I get some kind of paper/number, or recipt or something that shows that I've taken and passed the exam right away, or do you have to wait for something in the mail?
And yeah, ive completely forgot about this... THANKS for the post/reminder.. I'm doing it up tonight...

Hey Hookup,
Not as easy as it would appear. Need to get a supervisor (non-blood relation) to watch over the test, and the test cannot be taken at the test-takers private residence. So, hooking up that printer will help in to print off the temporary card, but not until this step is followed:
you will not be able to print your temporary card until your supervisor submits their signed supervisor agreement form (which will be processed during our business hours). Additionally, your permanent Pleasure Craft Operator Card will not be shipped until we receive your supervisor's signed agreement form.
Seems funny that you can retry the test for free until you pass, yet you have to follow these parameters in order to do it.

Yes you are absolutely correct. In the past, I don't think you needed a Supervisor, however you do now. This is a regulation that has been added by Transport Canada in order to make sure people take the test seriously. You cannot do it from your own house, so you need to hookup with a buddy or someone who is not related to you. They will register for free as a Supervisor and sign "on-line" after reading the agreement. The supervisor just makes sure you follow the rules for taking the test and you cannot even login to take the test unless your supervisor logs in with you.
Also, you don't have to print your temporary card right away. You can pass the test at a friends house, work, cafe, or the library, and then when you get home log in again with your username and password that you wrote the test with and print your temporary card. Within 2 weeks you should receive your permanent card in the mail.
The process is a bit of a pain if people don't have anyone who can supervise, as you are putting other people out for this, but once you have a place and a person willing to sit with you, it's smooth sailing. You have 45 minutes to complete 36 multiple choice questions and can move forward and backward to review prior to submitting your test for grading.

1) Does the supervisor have to sign something or is it 100% online?
- i searched the site and there was VERY limited info about what the supervisor needs to do in terms of what documentation they might need for applying/submitting themselves as a supervisor... including no reference to the *sign and mail/fax* anything rule.
2) How the heck could they every know if you did it at home or not?
3) Does the supervisor have to use a second computer to "log in with you"
- again, the FAQ's on the site are all about the card and who needs it, and not very much about the actual process.

Started the process myself today. Once you fill in your personal info and credit card stuff, you then go to a secondary page that is for the supervisor to fill in. Basically, the same as you filled in. Before you can actually take the test, however, there is a whole bunch of legal stuff the supervisor is supposed to read through. They are to then tick a box saying they agree to the terms of what their "supervisory" position entail.
Both you and the supervisor are given different login ID's and passwords. The supervisor I assume has theirs emailed to them. In order to start the test, both you and the supervisor have to input your seperate ID's and passwords.

Ok, so I figured I'd just go thru the darn process.
I registered myself as a supervisor, even though I have no one who needs me to do so, I figured it cannot hurt and it would provide the answers to my own questions, something the FAQ's were not able to do.
1- Read an agreement about your role and responsibilities (big read btw)
2- Fill in one form, name, address, phone, and email... (like 10 fields)
3- Select Digitally Sign using your mouse...
4- Sign using your mouse (kinda cool, pretty easy, my sig looks like my sig)
5- Accept the final screen.
6- Within 30 seconds receive your confirmation email that you are approved as a supervisor.
Obviously and automated system here, no way someone did a background check on me, or anything... At most, they did a look up to see if my phone number and address were remotely correct, but again, that could easily be automated and likely is, assuming it even is done at all.
