A Pair of Bald Eagles with two juveniles Hunting at McBay..

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Post by Bass Addict »

Took my son to the Bay last night to wet a line for a couple of hours..The bite was on for awhile...Both of us catching many bass/perch/mudpout/bluegill/black crappie..and a couple of pike..

Suddenly my son says to me.........Whats up Dad ..do you not see the two Bald Eagles up in that old maple tree ??????

I look over and i'm shocked at what I see ........not so much at seeing two bald eagles ...............But also a pair of juveniles were a couple trees over........ 8) :D :D :D :D

Those Golden Eagles were most likely immature Bald Eagles. The young don't get the white head feathers until they reach maturity and are often mistaken for Golden Eagles.

the eagles must be making a come back as I have seen them several times while fishing Norcan, Black Donald, and Centenial lakes.

It was also amazing to see them in Alaska this spring, in quantities you find sea gulls around here.

I have some close up pics of a young bald eagle eating a salmon I'll try and dig up and post here.

They were still there today BA... I also thought that they were baldies... but they were quite big. Up on top of two separate TALL dead trees on the South East side of the bay.

I'd say it's an immature bald eagle. Don't let size fool you. I have 5 eagles at my place that we feed and one of the immatures is bigger than the mature ones.

The easiest way to tell the difference is the feathers on their legs. Goldens have feathers all the way down their legs to their feet and bald eagles have no feathers on their legs.

Without your pictures we wouldn't have this discussion ...
So I'll say keep looking around when you fish :)

Pretty neat for sure, I've only spotted one in my life, and it was in northern ontario but what a massive bird!
