Stone Temple Pilots aboard the Muskie Magnet V

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Stone Temple Pilots aboard the Muskie Magnet V

Post by Trophymuskie »

Finally I have time to post the report.

First off I was hired by what I later found out was their production manager ( Steve is a really cool guy who's worked with some big names like Aerosmith and Neil Young other then STP ) Kind of a great contact, he's already offered me some tickets for the upcoming Aerosmith concert. Pssssssss a secret here but a Zeppelin concert is looking more like a reality then ever.

I was also invited to the STP concert that night where I had some VIP passes that let me in backstage. When we first got there Robert DeLeo saw us and invited us into their lounge where we met the other members. We were offered food an drink the full royal treatment I may ad. And I didn't expect to be watching the concert less then 20 feet away from the band. We got to watch the guitar technician do his thing, it was neat to see him tune and work the 10 guitars. Half way through Steve offered us the option to go watch it from the sound and light booth. My 12 year old got a hell of an experience for his first concert. Went home with all kinds of goodies too.

We were set to fish Sunday but only Robert DeLeo showed up with Steve and we pounded the waters for 6 hours only to miss a couple of fish. You should of seen the tour bus that they showed up in. Worse thing is this was the crew bus and the 3rd in their fleet of 4. The next day Scott Weiland showed up in his own private coach which was way more impressive. It had marble tiled steps that I can see from outside.

So Monday I'm expecting Steve and Scott to show up at 11 but it was shortly after 12 and I already knew they had to be off by 3. I guess it was time for my A game and hitting my honey hole. On our way out Scott tells me it's always been a dream of his to catch a pike or muskie. Even more pressure.

It wasn't long into it that we connected with Scott's first muskie and a good 1 at that. 42 inches and a fat male.

Now the wind was blowing big time so we were 1/2 mile away and we made our way back to the spot for another pass and in under 5 minutes Scott is hooked up again but this time it's a big girl. Once I finally saw it come up after a very impressive run I noticed the bait was almost a foot behind her mouth other then the fish been 6 inches across the back. Finally after a few scary rolls and twists at boatside I get ready to net her backwards but she wanted none of it and swam out of the net three times in a row. Turning the fish just was not an option so next time I scooped her sideway to get her head first and finally she was ours.

I looked down and this is what I saw.

Yup you can clearly see the front two hooks missing on the suick. One was found in the corner of the fish mouth and the other lord only knows where it is.

Here is Scott Weiland with a fish that so many can only dream off and he's got less then 3 hours muskie fishing experience.

She measured in at 54, no girth measurement was taken but it was in the 24+ range as this fish was wide. She was heavy as my low hold was not on purpose but because of it's weight and Scott's not really carrying his load. LOL

She also left 1/2 pound of crap in my boat and all over Scott pants and shoes. Made a good use of my new boat's washer system.

AWESOME! I'm a big STP fan from back in their heydays in the 90's. Congrats on the excellent clientele and of course, on the big mother muskie under pressure! :)

I said I did not measure the girth but the fish was 6 inches across and 6 from top to bottom makes it 24. It was definitely a 40 pound class fish. I've seen enough of them big girls to get a close estimate on size.

You've convinced Markus, Jazman, Canadian Bacon, MT Livewell, MuskieMagnet, Big O, Crazyhook, and Floatfishin to come back?
