What lure are you going to throw first on June 27th?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

What lure are you going to throw first on June 27th?

Post by Hookup »

So, basically, my question is straight forward. I curious what lures people will be starting with, I'm talking first cast, on June 27th (or whatever your first attempt at bass will be).

I can see that if you are after SMB vs LMB it'll be different... so feel free to answer as a two-part;

SMB: I've ALWAYS started with a white-big-o, For years... 100% consistently... and mostly it was on Charleston Lake that day.

LMB: not sure, I cannot think of the last time I targeted them on opening day.

What about you guys/gals????

I know where I will be on openeing Day and it's going to be a Frog that will get tossed first.
When hell freezes over, I'll be there icefishing!!!

If you can't stand behind our troops,
Please feel free to stand in front of them!!!

It'll be my first time really targeting bass on the Ottawa, I think I'll start with a top water of some sort...probably a pop'r and alternate with a jig. We'll see how that goes. I have frogs too, those sounds like fun.

If I start out at my favorite shoreline, it'll be a 10" red shad Berkley Power Worm for the largies in the logs.

If I start out at my favorite slop bay, it'll be a Mann's Hard Nose toad for the lurking largies.

If I start out fishing for smallies.....well I don't start out fishing for smallies.

You know... I've got two white Big-O's (different sizes)... and I have not caught anything on them! Maybe this'll be their year!

I love tossing frogs though... I've got a white one with red legs what has done well for me! 8)

cheers,

Bait tossing

For me it will be a spinner bait to start, then move onto a senko style bait as I move closer and then the top water frog for the real fun stuff.

Would you believe I've never caught ANYTHING in the Ottawa on a spinnerbait yet!! I must be up to 15-20 hours of trying, and nothing! I think I'll try dark colors soon. Chartreuse and White just aren't doing it for me.
