Headed out to the big rideau for the trout opener yesterday. Ended picking up only one and lost 3, had another 3 making the rods bounce but by the time we set the hook they were gone Most of the hits were at 45 on a blue and silver spoon. The radio echoed the same results there must have been 200 boats out there. No fish picks, but this one of when the sun was rising, I just had to share.

I hit Charleston Lake Saturday morning. Fished from 5:30-11:30. Boated 12 lakers lost about 6 or 7. Not bad for a mornings fish. Most fish in the 2lbs range. All fish caught on downriggers 55' down on West River spoons.

You pick the lake and I'm there, I will also post and invite and take one of the users.

P.S. Do you have a VHF or FRS?

I'll be heading back down to Charleston for a few days this weekend, I've grown up on the lake and have a particular spot that is very impressive. I was disappointed with the fishing Saturday. The last two years we boated 25-30 lakers opening day. I saw lots of fish landed all day on the lake.

West Rivers are made by Sutton.

It seems that for you guys it's standard to catch 20 + lakers! I'm getting envious of these results. I'm going to have to drive a little farther next time I go for trout and head up to Charleston this weekend.

Hi Guys

As Muskiemagnet can tell you, if you are not familiar with Charleston, have your finger near the up switch on you rigger. The bottom can easily go from 100 to 30ft (or less) in a couple boat lengths. I have been fishing there off and on for the last 14yrs and I'd swear the bottom keeps moving every year. It likes to jump up and grab canon balls. :o :o :o

Sweet reports guys!!!

Bass Ackwards and I are thinking about trying our luck on Charleston next Saturday. I've only fished lakers there 3 times and Bass ackwards has never fished lakers, so we will be definitely relying on luck.

Went for a troll this afternoon on Big Rideau (i took off from work early <g>)... I picked up one laker at 80 ft.

It was smaller so I released it. I took this pic while it was still in the water (sorry about the blur) and then with a flick of the pliers I let her go...
