Hello,

We are coming up to Seeley's Bay in early June to try our hand at fishing. Any recommendations on places to eat, get groceries, etc (though we will likely eat fish alot)?

Still wading through all of the information on the site. This is a very impressive site.

Never been but I am sure you will find something on here.

You should find most of what you need in the area but depending on where you are coming from you could always stop for supplys in Kingston.

I don't know the area well but you may find there are limited dinning spots.

I would think your best bet would be Gananoque due south on the St. Lawrence. Kingston is without a doubt bigger, with excellent places to eat and shop.
"Gan" is a beautiful smaller town and easy to navigate for the first time. There are a lot of choices for dining out, from basic diner grub to up-scale and in-between. Gan is also a good spot to re-supply your groceries.
You might even want check out the St. Lawrence River in you quest for toothy critters.

There is a small grocery store in Seeley's Bay, and and LBCO.

For restaurants if you want more then a mom and pop diner you need to make the trek to Gananoque.

There is a nice mom and pop diner on the corner of Highway 15 and 32 (where you turn to head "Gan"). If you go on a tuesday (i think) they have 1/2 priced deserts.

"Gan" is likely worth the trip anyway. Its a nice little place to spend and afternoon or morning. And an evening if you wanna hit the Casino!

Ask away if you have more questions. I don't have all the anwsers but I have a cottage there and spend at least 3-4 days a month there.

Seeley's Bay? Lotsa fish around them parts. GREAT choice.

Cranberry, Dog and Whitefish - you've got a "lotawata" to explore and fish on these three lakes.

Splake, Pike, Smallmouth, Largemouth, Bowfin, perch, crappie, with a great mixture of habitat - Deep, Shallow, Current, Slop, Rocky, shoals etc.

I think you would do well to fish these three water bodies extensively in an entire summer, so you may just have to come back again and again...

Any recommendations on what baits I should look into? I am in the southeastern US so my experience in fishing is bass (out of season I know when we are there) and panfish. I am looking at targeting walleye and pike but would love to hook a muskie as I have never caught one. From what I am seeing I need to look into perch colored baits in addituion to gold and silver.

Any help is appreciated. 4 weeks to go!

are you staying at a lodge? The best advice you can get is to follow the instructions of the lodge owner. They know what is working on their lakes.

If you are pike fishing - spinner baits work well and yeah the perch pattern is a good one. Shallow bays with weeds beginning to form it your best place to start.

If you are walleye fishing - jigs and minnows are hard to beat. There are also an unlimited number of ways to fish harnesses with either worms or minnows.

Staying at a cabin but at the moment not sure where as my cousin is being closed mouthed. I plan to fish for pike and walleye mainly but also intend to go after some crappie and perch. I plan to fish for crappie the same as down here.... small jigs with 2" tails and small rapalas. Still researching how to fish for the perch.

Will keep you posted.
