Battery charging

I have a nautalis deep cycle battery and a motomaster battery charger...the charger is supposed to turn off on its own but dosen't and i think it damaged my battery last year from over charging. My question is how long (approx.) should i charge it for at 2Amps, if the battery almost completely drained....I did also buy one of those digital battery charge monitors, but i would like to hear what you guys do

on the nautilus the charger changes light when done. maybe a defect!?!

yeah i think it is...thats why i'm looking for a ballpark time range

if you are looking for a good battery charger buy a motormaster eliminator intelligent battery charger with digital technology. it is reasonable priced. it said in the instructions NOT to use trickle charge 2 amp on deep cycle batteries

That's a bit confusing, I thought it was okay to trickle charge a deep cycle battery??
I have one of those Motomaster chargers that's supposed to adjust the charge as the battery gets close to 100%.

2a tricle chargers are not the way to go anymore, to charge a dead deep cycle it would probably take a full 24 hrs or maybe more and they dont charge them properly.
Motomaster chargers break all the time anyway so that may be the problem. A charger that starts out at 10a and then gradually cuts the charge down as the battery becomes full is the way to go.
If your battery is no good anymore (you are lucky to get 5yrs) then the charger may never shut off, also trying to charge a battery that is no good with a motomaster will likely result in a fried charger.
Guest 10a marine charger is the way to go, they are available through marine shops.
