You are psychic: Brian and I were just talking about kayaks over lunch today.

Still thinking we'll probably get one, but are still discussing things like price, two-seat vs. single, etc. I'm sure at some not-so-distant time we will be buying one. B4 we are ready, I'll pick your brain again for advice.

get one is ok...2 is better...dont want to be. ..but wen you have one its fun..but wen you have 2 and can bring a friend and go along etc etc.

there some great deals on use kayaks..that way can get 2 for the price off one and sometime even cheaper then that.

or get a duo..a 2 place kayak..good to. they call them divorce kayaks. after sometime couple that got a duo sell it and get 2 kayaks. .

that is what we did. and then ad a couple to the fleet.

I must admit that i tried it once. it was a lot of fun. you can really move fast in those. I must admit the wibble wobble of the initial tries is a bit unnerving. I would really find it challenging to fish from one i think. I guess one just has to get used to it.

I'd probably end up looking at the fish straight in the eye as I set the hook on the fish then try to find the paddle to right myself

actualy it depend what type and kind off kayak you did try..they are not all the same at all.

some off mine i stand up in it to fish.and are very sturdy..no danger to flip^at all.

Holy cow! You got me there man that is of interest to me. I love to cruise quietly in the bays at the lake this would be great. I may just take you up on that .. Thanks

The ones i tried were one seaters that you litterally "wear" You slide your body into a hole.

My wife keeps telling me..............

That one day she's going to pm Joco for some advice on Kayaks ,she says it would be great to get close to wildlife for some better quality pictures,

I keep telling her that most wildlife are afraid of kayaks....

( Then i would have to buy for myself also )

I can see me doing an Eskimo Roll or two, myself, Gorf. Brian and I got into a debate about which was easier to flip, a canoe or a kayak. I think the canoe would be less stable, but he thought the opposite.

Actually I can attest to the fact that the canoe is harder to roll. When I was working at a summer camp on west lake I had to be "certified "on canoe and kayak which meant rolling over recovering and reentering . I was with another guy in the canoe and it took 4 tries before we got it to go over.. the kayak, i just had the thought and over it went. I was "accredited to use both but never have since that 2 week period at the lake

BE GREAT TO SEE SOME NEW PEOPLE ON THE WATER THIS YEAR. tIS SHOULD BE A HUGE YEAR FOR KAYAK ANGLING

canoe are easy to flip...at least easyer.

but again it depend the canoe all canoe are not the smae..they dont have all the same first and second stability.

and same for kayak.

not many canoe that you stand up and fish like some kayaks..but some canoe you can do it.


if you look a sit on top kayak..very safe.

if you ever do flip just turn it back and get back on..water wil flow true the scupper holes..try that in a canoe. ..its possible but a pain in a butt.


kayak more stabile.

but htye both have there pro and cons.

canoe= canoe camping..more stuff dogs etc.

kayak= more stabile..more comfortable..i personaly like it more to fish frome..i got both and kayak is 1 to fish frome in solo short distance no camping.

Joco I'll come out with you for a day in the spring for sure. I want to give them a try!

But in return, I think you should come with me for a day of jigging for lake trout

I am learning some things...

1. Never take Gorf out in a 2-seater kayak.

2. Kayaks have drain holes -- !

3. Musky51 is an eco-terrorist.


Seriously, Joco, maybe you can bring your kayaks for a visit to the Wolfe Den at the lake some time and we can give them a go. We'll feed you dinner in payback for the kayak lesson.
