New to FH.net and Loving it!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

New to FH.net and Loving it!

Post by cprince »

Wow! Never knew about this site and I feel SOoooo left out! I am a guy who loves to fish; (Mostly Quebec side 'cause I like to eat what I catch!) ;-)

I fish the Ottawa River from Quyon and North... Gatineau River > Farm Point and North... I fish the sewer sometimes when it is windy (McLauren bay) I love Meech Lake for bass... these are my regular stomping grounds.

I mostly catch and release with the exception of small (5lb and under) pike and 13 inch to 17 inch walleye. Never more than my limit and always in season.

I do have a question for some of the guys who are veterans of Lac 31 Mile... I read a thread by (I think his handle is; Ratso) about his June excursion netting some nice white fish and lakers... I am planning a cheap solo camping trip this October (10th to the 14th) mostly to catch some walleye, but would love to hook into some smallies and pike in between the walleye bites of dawn and dusk... I was thinking about parking the car and boating to an island and pitching a tent.

Does this lake look to be conducive to this type of fishing and camping? I am planning to go and check it out in a couple of weeks and bring up some firewood to whatever appropriate camp I may find.

If any one can think of a better walleye lake in the Outaouais where I could camp on a small island and park my car next to a public launch... please chime in!!

So far I have gotten a PM suggesting Saint Marie... I am just unsure of the traffic and privacy on that lake opposed to 31 mile lake. I don't *know* either lake... but just going by what I have heard.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks for all the welcomes guys! This seems like the place to be if you like to wet line! I can't believe that I never knew about it before! I am a member of I-Boats.com (I redid a 14ft fiberglass from the stringers up!) and other "Hobbie" type groups; Hockey and Satellite "testing" groups.. but this one is the most local one I have seen since the old days of BBSs!

I hope to meet some of you at a boat launch in the near future!!

Welcome cprince and glad you found the site. I've never fished the lake before but I have fished up around the Quyon area and of course McLaren Bay among others.

I look forward to your reports and pics and perhaps we'll meet on the water sometime.

Cheers,
Rob Atkinson
