HI,

I am traveling to the Ottawa area next week and was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of some Muskie, Carp, Bass, Chain Pickeral, and whatever other species that I haven't seen out west here. I will have my fly rods only due to limited packing space. I have heard that a good place to start would be on the Rideau River right in Ottawa. As well wondering if there is any good camping within an hours drive of the city as I will get a free night to enjoy the surrounding area. I appreciate any help you could supply. Take care.

For camping check out Fiztroy Provincial Park. Less than an hour from Ottawa.

Good fishing in the harbour aroud the beach. Fitzroy has many of the speices your looking for. White streamers are very effective.

Very good fishing around Fitzroy Harbor.. Lots of nice eyes, cats, muskies, pike, smallies... you name it! Saw a nice school of 5-6 gar, pretty fun to watch and follow with the trolling motor.

I live on a stretch of the Ottawa R. fairly close to Fitzroy Provincial Park....(15min drive by car)....

Send me a PM with details on what day you're planning on camping and maybe we can arrange an evening fish on my boat...

ON has plenty of grass pickeral. You don't have to leave the province to fish for chainsides.

Actually they're considered to be a species at risk and are only found in few places in Ontario.

Are you bringing some form of watercraft up with you or will you be wading?

Was thinking about bringing my float tube but for the most part I will probably be wading or looking to rent a boat. Any boat rental near this Provincial park.

Are grass pickeral and chains a seperate species? Are their any in these area mentioned... I would love a photo.

FYI when it comes to fishing,, Taylor is clueless

Rideau river provincial park has nice campsites and you can certainly catch a ton of panfish of their little docks, something to consider
