I have horrible luck-Ice season put on hold

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I have horrible luck-Ice season put on hold

Post by JP »

Well as alot of you know I have been dealing with a very bad back injury which has required surgery and more to come :? . I was just starting to feel better and looking forward to getting out on the ice and try my luck. I missed the entire open water season with the back thing so couldn't wait to get out since I got all my ice stuf in :D .
Yesterday in the morning I was getting a customers snowmobile out of storage at work and stepped off it 6" down on to flat ground and BAM  felt like someone had had hit me in the back of the leg with a baseball bat  .
I was taken to the hospital where they determined that I had ruptured my Gastranimis tendon (Under the calf) and tore the muscle. To make matters worse I had no puse in my foot and everything bellow my knee was cold. The swelling had cut off the circulation to my foot and I was admitted. Lucky  for me they were able to reduce the swelling and return the blood flow. Bad news is that I am off my feet for a week then crutches for a bunch more and 12 weeks to get back to normal. :? . So at least for now I am hanging out watching bad holiday tv LOL, unless someone wants to pull my fat butt arround LOL on a sled.
The good thing is that I can spend the holidays with family and my girlfriend and it forces me to take some time off work which I am sure I need.
Anyway I will keep every one up to date with how things go.
Cheers
JP

ps. A huge thanks to Leisa for staying with me at the hospital and shuttling me arround for the next 12 weeks  (not so lucky for her  LOL)

Hey JP, Wow another injury. It sounds like it could have been much more serious than it was. It was a good decision to get medical help when you did.
I am sorry to hear that JP. Try and enjoy your down time where possible and keep up your spirits.
Have a great Christmas.

Hope all goes well for you. Try to enjoy your time off (in spite of how it happened). Don't be in a rush to get back on your feet (work), an injury like that can get re-injured pretty easy. Take care, and hopefully you will be able to get in some late season ice fishing.

I've got a few guests over and I've shared your post with them. We discussed it and decided - we feel bad for you.

JP,

That is some cruddy luck. Here's hoping that you can recover quickly. In the meantime, at least you can enjoy some of the down time this is forcing you to have.

Take care and get better soon! Be careful while up and about on your crutches -- I know someone who fell a 2nd time and screwed up her leg even worse.

I think someone may be telling you to SLOW DOWN JP. In any case best wishes for a speedy recovery - there is still lots of time for all that new ice fishing equipment.

JP,
Did you fake this injury so you could sit home and watch the bowl games while sipping on some Winter Fest brews?

Get better bro,

Thnaks everyone for the well wishes. I figure it is nature telling me that I shouldn't be working 6-7 days and 70 hrs a week anymore :? .
Even if I have to put spikes on the cruches I hope to get out on the ice within 3 weeks even if it is 30 ft from shore at the Girlfriends. Have to try out the new stuff you know LOL.
Jim nice to hear form you. Looking forward to hitting the ice with everyone soon.

Cheers and Happy Holidays for everyone. Be safe and hope Santa loads your tackle boxes.
