Well this morning was the second time in a month I have spotted coyote's here at petrie. I saw one run across the road in broad daylight and this morning I saw 2 running on the ice close to crappie bay. Is there somebody that should be notified. Definatly gorgeous animals !

There was a warning on the news about cayotes. Apparently the deep snow is making it difficult for them to find game so they've been taking family pets. Some small dogs were reported taken by them.
Keep an eye on fluffy!!!

there everywhere. close to my home i run into them working my dogs. nearby the neighborhood is missing cats and small dogs. i chuckled. the windsor star did a story stating eagles were doing the damage. i have found numerous kills of cats and 1 small fifi. with reduced hunting prileges they have exploded.. sitting in walmart lot one day i watched a coyote hunt in an open field. 10 a.m in the morning. with cars going by.

I think it tells us that we have a healthy biosphere in the area,
From wikipedia:
Coyotes are versatile carnivores with a 90% mammalian diet, depending on the season. They primarily eat small mammals, such as voles, eastern cottontails, ground squirrels, and mice, though they will eat birds, snakes, deer, and livestock as well as large insects and other large invertebrates. Though they will consume large amounts of carrion, they tend to prefer fresh meat. Part of the coyote's success as a species is its dietary adaptability. As such, coyotes have been known to eat human garbage and domestic pets. Fruits and vegetables are a significant part of the coyote's diet in the autumn and winter months.
