float tube fishing.

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

The Daytripper is an excellent toy. I've fished from one for 7 years now and it's great.

I don't have any experience with float tubes but I do have an Arrow Backpacker Pontoon Boat. Been out on it a few times. They're a lot of fun. Did one 9km river float trip for smallies and had a blast.

I plan on ordering a Day Tripper LP in the spring. Hopefully the 2008 model will offer a color other than yellow.

Hey Joco.

I've owned 4 and tried about 8 different kinds and a number of them different styles. Have been float tubing for 10+ years.

This is the company and model I would reccommend. You can order them from TheFishingHole out west.

Joco,

I have the DayTripper LP and I've had no problems with it. A couple of the guys I was fishing with recently had the Outcast Fish Cat 4 Deluxe. They look like a good tube as well. The deluxe model has an inflatable seat as opposed to the standard foam block. From a transporting standpoint, the Outcasts are smaller when inflated than the Day Drippers.

Beachburger, based on this week's trip, the rainbows don't seem to mind the bright yellow colour of the DayTripper LP. ;-)

For a more extreme version of a float tube, check out this cross between a float tube and a pontoon boat (700lb capacity):

<a href="http://www.northforkoutdoors.com/naviga ... r2.html</a>

Another option for float tubes is this one with 500lb capacity:

Hi Joco
I have one of dave scadden's (now northforkoutdoors) boats that I bought about 8 or 9 years ago and I can tell you that you wont be disappointed. The quality is the best and they are rated for white water too! The one that I have is like the one in the link but an older model. The good ones use a heavy material like on zodiac's and the cheaper ones just use thin nylon. One thing to take into consideration is portability. The one I have weighs only 18lbs and has no frame and rolls up neatly into a pack sack! This winter I plan on taking a trip to the tropics somewhere and plan on bringing my float tube. I want to target bonefish on the fly from my boat! A few years ago I floated a 15kms stretch of the malbaie river. The hike in was brutal and would not have been possible with a boat that had a frame. Some sections were very shallow and I just tethered the boat to my waist with all my gear in it and waded.

Good luck with your search :)
fixed it
