Bobber hits the mark...
Well folks,
After several years of learning different techniques, weather conditions, bodies of water, and types of weeds that big fish like to hang out in....I have finally done it!
This year I set out to catch the all time elusive 5lb+ Bass. I was on mission for several months now, having explored many different bodies of water this year, and finally this past Saturday has finally paid off for me.
Fishhawk called me on Saturday morning to tell me he was off to get out for a fish. I didn't really plan on fishing this day, however my wife...as always, provided her concent for me to get out.
Fishhawk picked me up and we headed out, not really knowing where we were going to go yet, however had a lake about an hour away in mind. As we were driving to that lake, we saw a sign on the side of the road pointing to a campsite on a very, very small body of water. We hadn't been to it before but thought...what the heck, let's give it a whirl...so we did. I don't know if this is anyone's "honey hole", as I've never heard of it before, so I'll refrain at this time from publically identifying it, as it is very small.
It was a little slow at first, as many new bodies of water are, having to try and figure out patterns, depths, and weed types. Once we thought we had figured out the best potential spots for fish, we dug in hard and started to pound what we figured would be the most productive areas....and low and behold, look what Bobber hooks into!
Largemouth Bass weighing 5.5lbs on a digital scale, Blue/Black jig with Berkley Jitterbug trailer. SWEET!

I had thought of this moment all summer long, but none of my thoughts even came close to how I felt after I had finally accomplished it. I actually sat down afterwards for about 10 minutes and just re-thought the whole experience.
We continued to pound the waters some more, excited by the catch, and managed a few more good fish. (3.8, 3.4, 3.2, 2.8, and a bunch of 2.5ers)

![Image](http://www.fish-hawk.net/photogallery/albums/userpics/Sept10_060.jpg)
Fishhawk was so excited that on one of his hooksets, he exploded his rod......but still got the fish.
![Image](http://www.fish-hawk.net/photogallery/albums/userpics/Sept10_056.jpg)
He proceeded to tell me about the letter he had planned to write. "Dear Rapala, I'd like to take this opportunity to let you know that I really like the bottom half of your rods.....however the top half leaves much to be desired!"
So Saturday, September 22, 2007, being the first day of Autumn...will be a day I remember for a long time. Now what'll I do next?
Cheers,

Slop, that's right....it's more than 5lbs.....thanks for pointing that out...again....

I figured that since I had the scale proof, that I didn't need to put it to a vote, so I just added it to the club.......that, and the fact that I own the site and make the rules too, works in my favour.

What a great way to finish the summer and start the autumn. Well done!! Doesn't it just tick you off when you think you have bought half decent equipment and it fails you.
Sorry to see that it happens to others too, I was begining to think it was only me with the bad luck.
At lease you landed the fish, fish-hawk,
WELL DONE!!!!!
