Baskatong information

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Baskatong information

Post by DropShotr »

Greetings Everyone:

I am planning a late spring/early summer trip to Baskatong next year. I have done a bit of research on this reservoir and have decided to stay at http://www.pointedavid.ca/e_homepage.html I was hoping to target walleye and to a lesser degree the trout. If anyone has any experience or tips I would appreciate it. One of my biggest concerns is color selection/size for walleye jigs. 3in or 4in? Do I just go with the standard white, yellow, chartreuse, orange, bubblegum etc.(bright colors) or should I consider subdued colors on this body of water. I just assume the water is tea colored and bright colors would be the choice. I haven't done a walleye trip in a while and what jig bodies I have left are "old school", no salt or scent. I would like to get a few packs of the "next generation" plastics but with the extra cost of premium baits I'd like to narrow down color selection so I do not break the bank, so to speak.

Thanks,
DropShot'r

Hi there, i have spent a week on the Baskatong at the begining of August. We stayed at Le Pavillon de L'Orignal. We had a great time. The Beaches there are great. The Kids really enjoyed them.

As for the fishing, it was a bit slow. We were targeting them in around 30ft of water(vertical jigging). We used white jig head with a worm. We got lots of eyes but they were really small. You will get lots of them around 10 to 15 inches.

If you need additional info, you can send me a private message.

Later.

Some people fish the deep part of the reservoir similarly to how people troll at Bay of Quinte by going after the suspended walleyes.

Hi Drop shot'r

I have stayed at Pointe David. It is very crowded at the site. It was not at all what I expected... was a real chip stand. To make matters worse the fishing is also very tough at the Baskatong.

You might want to consider something else.
