WOW, Nodie...! You got yourself a bounty of bass recently. Some of those are really hefty brutes.

And you're right: the colors and markings on that mini-smallmouth are incredible.

Nice fish Nodie, thanks for sharing.

Just one note for ya. It was pointed out to me, on several occasions, (yes I'm guilty as well) that sometimes the way it looks like I'm holding bass from the jaw causes undue stress on the fish that can be avoided. I've noticed that you look like you're doing the same thing that we all have done at some point in time, so from one angler who has received this constructive critisism......(and continues to ensure that I correct the holds) to another, I would like you to consider holding the fish more vertical if you do so by the jaw, as to not cause undue pressure or stress on it, particularily the larger fish. Some say that it's better to support the entire body as well, but I personally think this really only applies to the larger fish who's weight supported by the jaw in mid air can really cause damage to it.

Something I was told once...or twice...or maybe even a few times, and that I'd pass along to ya just so that you're aware. I think I may even make a post on this to try and see how others feel about the way bass are held. We'll see.

Cheers and thanks for sharing the photos.

Good tips & thx for the reminder, Bobber. I see a lot of folks use this hold and many probably have no idea it could be detrimental to the fish's well being, if being released.

And I was thinking just what Abraxus mentioned: awesome job on the bass from SHORE, Nodie. WOW.:D

Nodie, nice work. I'll echo the shore comments. I'm a career shore fisherman and you're puttin' me to shame here. :D

Ditto that. I've held pre-release bass in the same way in the past. From now on I will hold them strictly vertically, or horizontally with proper support.

You learn something new every day. :)
