Madatory Boater's Card testing
Posted: Mon May 14, 2007 9:44 am
Hello all, the following Boater's Exam Testing has been offered to Renegade Bass members including friends and family. It's a great deal (42% savings). Not that this would be too important but Renegade Bass is a Federally recognized "Not For Profit Corporation" and as such does not benefit financially from this endeavour. We are just trying to share the wealth and opportunity.
In the interests of safety Renegade Bass has obligated all of it's boaters to obtain the Boater's Safety Card for the 2007 season. Though the new rule applies only to the driver within the team, The Association strongly encourages both members to posses the card. The rule also applies to any substitute that may be driving a boat.
In order to assist in facilitating this new requirement, Renegade Bass has retained the services of the Forensic and Nautical Consultants of Canada (FNCC). This is the same group that sponsored our Radio Show last season through the "Safe Boating Tips". FNCC will be hosting 2 classroom sessions in Ottawa for the Boater's Card testing.
Both sessions will take place in Building “Tâ€, Room 102a at the Woodroofe Campus of Algonquin College (see attached map and directions). The first session will commence at 7:00pm and end at 9:30pm on Thursday May 24. The second session will take place on Sunday May 27 and will run from 9:00 am – 11:30am. There will be plenty of free parking. (You know you’re in the right lot when it’s filled with vehicle with trailer hitches).
The test is 36 multiple choice questions focusing exclusively on the common sense of boating. There will be teachers there to help during the testing should you require further explanation of any of the questions. We have been told that it is quite easy and with the assistance of the instructors, the exam should be well within the capabilities of all of our members. The exam will be available in both English and French and bilingual instructors will be present at both sessions. The test should take no longer than about 20 minutes.
Renegade Bass has negotiated a $35.00 (plus GST) price for the test which you only pay if you pass!!! The testing is normally $50.00 and as such represents a 42% saving to our members. The FNCC has agreed to extend this offer to both friends and family and as such we encourage you to invite as many as possible to take advantage of this offer. Don’t forget that the cards will be a requirement for every Canadian by the 2009 boating season.
Given the email response we expect to have a full house at each event. We ask that you please RSVP with a post on the message board with the date and approximate time that you wish to attend, along with the number of people that you will be bringing.
