I wouldn't say that this is a proper or detailed report since I know close to nothing about salmon fishing (ie. lures, water temp, etc.) but this is the biggest salmon I've ever seen in my life (that is to say, that i saw it LIVE, and not in a foto). Sadly, no that's not me with the giant catch, but this fellow had caught 3 of similar size, and was offering this one to me. No, I didn't take it either cause first I didnt catch it (I practice C+R)... plus it was such a monstrous fish I just wouldn't be able to kill/gut/cook it. MASSIVE!!!

Anyway, my boyfriend and I didn't actually do any fishing since we didn't have the proper gear, but we went to check it out. Was pretty crowded, which takes away from relaxing QUIET fish time, and really there were way too many people. But WOW..I still can't get over that.

So, as I had mentioned earlier, I haven't the slightest clue as to what to use for salmon fishing but this guy (didn't really speak much english i guess) showed me some pink fuzz that he said he used - can someone elaborate on that please? Also, we are planning on going to French River within the month - any good spots and/or types of fish to go for there?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Fianna. Welcome!

Those are some amazing pics. Can you imagine having one of those on the end of your line? I can't!

Hopefully your inquiry will get you some advice from others on board here.

Take care,

W.

I was at the Credit in Erindale park for 4 hours on Saturday, but no luck. I drifted different colored roe bags all day with no luck, still can't figure out why. maybe too heavy a leader? But i did see 6-7 fish landed and another dozen lost. People don't seem to want to give you tips....very secretive....
But it was one of the coolest fishing experiences i've had seeing a 25 pound salmon jump like a smallmouth.
