Local Bass Opener

Due to starting a new job on tuesday, and having a stag to attend saturday night, this was the first opening of bass that i didn't head up north....

I figured if i stayed home, at least i'd be fishing water void of any bass tournaments or other common northern lake madness. I fished for five hours Saturday morning and three hours this evening (Sunday).

I started out saturday morning (5am) throwing top waters, hoping to catch the first of the season with a big exciting hit.....took a little while, but managed my first of the season on an old zell roland pop-r.

soon after i switched to rubber worms, and thats what i basically stuck to for the two days. i found fish were pretty tight to cover...which makes the fishing fun. here's some pics i took over the two days of some of the nicer fish.

Definitely a fun opener, especially for fishing local waters.

Hey Steve,

Great work on the bass! Good start to the season for sure...
Throwing any flipping jigs at those beasts yet??? Great way to put a few more in the boat..
Looking forward to the next report - always a first-class read.
Good Fishing,
Justin

not yet bud. (i suck)

i've been finding 95% of these fish in water shallower than 2', so the slow fall of the senko's have been just perfect.
