I caught this fish in the Haliburton Forest Preserve on Saturday, May 20. I was fishing from my Daytripper float tube in the rain with wind gusts to 50 km/hr. The lake is shallow - max depth of 50 feet - so I trolled a cone-head marabou muddler variation on sink tip line along the shore line in about 15 feet of water. It took 3 minutes to bring to hand and 30 seconds to snap 3 photos. Released unharmed for next season's trip......
The best part was releasing it in front of the 3 a**holes in the boat who were downrigging using minnows in an area with a live bait ban. These guys rather profanely made fun of me with my tube and my flyrod. They left after I held the fish up for them to see before releasing it. They got skunked.....

Their insulting me really didn't bother me that much - I've been called worse by better people. What really ticked me off was their blatant disregard for the live bait ban. One guy didn't even bother with a fishing rod....he had leadcore wrapped around a plank and was trolling with that. I had to laugh when he got it caught in the motor.
By the way, I highly recommend the Haliburton Forest Preserve. All campsites are on shorelines of lakes and they have excellent fishing for specks, rainbows, lakers, and bass...it's very well-managed. There are activities for kids, too....the wolf centre is amazing!
