Some "Grand" Carpin'

So I've been bustin' me balls all day, ...running all over hells creation,
...then putting up the new lights in the basement, ......
Whoever invented potlights, ...should be shot, ...."slowly"
I got three of 'em in anyways,
.....and why you ask? ...did I do this....
Cause I had a secret, .......and I needed some "short term investment" brownie points, ...big time.....
The secret was revealed, ...shortly after 5......
The "Boss" caught me
"What are you doing on that damn computer....?"
"...er, ....just checking something"
The "Boss" notices the fishing pole leaning against the wall....
"What are you up to?"
"......Going fishing"
The Boss, .....is suprisingly non aggressive, .....(Brownie Points, ....YES!!!)
"That figures, .....when?"
"....Now....."
Never seen the "Bosses" eyes roll, ...quite that much before,
....however, ....it beats the hell outta the, ...."stare of death"
I'm a "boogiein", .......and make it just in time to meet Simon at our designated carp rendezvous....
I put on my waders, ...and we make our way down to the river....
I remembered last year, ...this was where I had finally caught my first fish, ...
Little different story this year, ....no desperation mode, ...just here for some R & R
We get set up, ....I head up to the point and Simon stayed back
I wasn't gettin squat, ...so I headed back down, ....
No sooner had I got cast out, ...Simon gets a nice hit, ....kept 'er on for a few minutes, .....
and lost it....
He sets back up, ...a few minutes later, ...gets another one on, ...and lost it too.....
0 for 2, .....hmmmm
Finally one was kind enough to hit "my" worm, ......
I believe these are called "mirror" carp....
I have to admit, ....these are a very pretty fish, ....the picture really doesn't do them justice....
I get set back up, ....Simon gets another one on, ....and loses it....
He doesn't even have time to set up, ...and I got nailed again....
Just a normal one this time, ...but a lot of spunk....
So I get setup again, ...and Simon gets another one on, and
.............................................and
.......................................................and
....................................................................and
......................We get 'er one, .......
I was a little nervous the way his luck was running tonite, ....so I started taking pics a little early,
...just in case....
We each lost one more, ....and then the "fish" bite quit, ....and the "frost" bite started....
it does get a smidgen chilly when that sun disappears....
We called it a night and headed back....
It was nice to get out of those waders again, ....I love the "concept", ....I guess I still gotta get used to the "application"
We were out for, ....I'm guessin' a little over an hour and a half, ....
we hooked into 7 or 8 fish, and landed 3 ...that's not the best percentage,
....but it made for a fun evening....
Thanks for the invite Simon, ...it sure as hell was the "highlight" of my day...
Lookin' forward to a couple more outings, ...
and anyone who thinks these puppies don't "battle", ....best get out and try one on for size....
Oh yeah, .....picked up my baby's new ball, .....ovary, .....whatever, ....
....I do know it's 10lbs anyways,
