Fishing in Quebec & where to ice fish near ottawa?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Fishing in Quebec & where to ice fish near ottawa?

Post by fishy story »

Hi guys, can you tell me what the regulations are in terms of ontario anglers fishing in quebec....ie what is the cost of the licence.

I'm looking to go ice fishing for the first time.
Can anyone give me a tip on where to go within one hour of ottawa.
Thanks

Hey fishy story!

Welcome abaord!

If you want to fish in Quebec, an annual non-resident license will cost you about $52. Plus or minus a buck. I get mine every year.

As far as places to fish, just look for shacks on that side. Drive along the 148 and you should see where everyone is.

Joco may be able to be more specific with locations on that side..

Nice thing is, you're allowed 5 lines over there, on the Ottawa anyway!

Next years goal is to develope some good spots over there  ...

If you want to give Quebec a "try" but dont feel like doing the full 52 bill no- resident thing .. you can buy their licences in incriments of 1, 3 and (I think) 5 days. This is an option I chose while doing some fishing up in the Wakefield area ..

If you buy a licence now, you'll have to renew April 1.

Theirs expires March 31.
