Hello All,

Thinking about spending the day at Crappie Bay tomorrow (Monday). Anyone hit it today, and can let me know what the conditions are? Lots of water around the outer edge, or has it solidified more with the snow and colder temps?

What an amazing day on crappie bay.My dad and myself got there at 10, set-up, droped a pinhead tipped teardrop and WHAM 12 incher to start the day.Continued to pull 11'' and 10'' slabs consistantly No pike today(not even the pike guy got one ) but caught a PB gill..10''

RJ....I have been trying to give th islands a break also, today was the first time I had fished there almost 3 weeks It's kind of hard when it's like your backyard

Being relatively new to Ottawa, don't really know many other decent pannie spots. (And since you're not naming Lake X... )
What I like about Petrie is, I only go during the week when no one is around, and for the most part, the fishing is fairly consistent. You gotta like 12" crappies, and last years 14.25-incher. Was out on Thursday - caught between 40 and 50 gills (with some slabs in amongst them..!) That's reason enough for me to keep returning. (Plus it's only a 15 minute drive to get there )
Over the next few weeks, I'll be exploring more, and turning my attention toward walleye and lakers. But for now, a short drive and a bucketful of pannies works pretty well...

So, I take it getting on the ice is no problem, Tipup??

Just wondering if you guys would share how deep you ice fish for crappie and bluegill? I fish a small lake that has good numbers of large panfish in summer but all I can catch in winter are perch (jumbos up to 14"), pike and walleye. I fish weed edges and points from 10 - 20ft. deep. I have caught crappie here up to 15" in summer fishing for bass in the heavy weeds with tubes but most of the weeds die off in winter. Any ideas would be great.

The main spot at petrie is 30FOW, and crappie suspended at 10-15FOW...

Hey Justin, did you get out there (Petrie)? Any luck?
