New trout lake found

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

New trout lake found

Post by Carl »

Well had the opportunity to go out to find a new lake on the weekend to see how the trout were biting.

Headed up with Kodiak and Bradford. Kodiak picked me up at 4:30, quick stop at IKEA to pick up Bradford and off we were.

Stopped at Antrim truck stop to fill up on breakfast :) Needed to make sure we had some food in us for the day.

Got to the lake around 7:15 as it was getting light out. Funny thing, we met up with GetinJiggywithit and he confirmed we were at the right lake.

Bradford caught 2 right away on tip up and minnows... Kodiak caught 2 after that. Then they each caught another one and I'm still waiting for a bite  It's now 2:00 and I decide we are staying until I catch a fish :)

Kodiak gives me his Vex and within 2 minutes of each other I finally ice 2 :)

We had lunch on the ice... must admit that Kraft Dinner and Deer Sausages while fishing is hard to beat :)

That made my day. New lake and 8 brookies on the ice!

Many thanks to someone for giving us accurate directions :)

Many thanks to getingjiggywithit for his magic bait :)

One guy on a lake near by was having auger problems and walked down to where we were to borrow Kodiak's auger. It made it's way back with one of the CO's.

Highlight was to see the CO's today coming in to the lakes to check for licences and making sure all was in order. It was nice to see them out.

A little adventure is always a lot of fun :)

I'm glad to here you made it out ok :) I always enjoy myself there. Most of the time i get to whole lake to myself  It was nice to see the co's (first time in my ten years of fishing it!) on that particular lake!!
That magic bait works well on other trout lakes as well as other types of trout!!! I'm thinking the next time I go up I'll check out the lake with the really big specks...er....splakes..... ...and this time I'll bring the camera!
