I actually wrote this last year, .....but there's a bunch more people now who may not have seen it......
T'was the week before Christmas,
And all through the lake.
Not a "fishie" was stirring,
Not even a splake.
The ice on the surface,
Was thick as can be.
Some icicles hung,
Like teeth, from a tree.
When all of a sudden,
There arose such a clatter.
The fishermen came,
Some thin.... and some fatter
They came with their ice huts.
Put them right on the lake.
They drilled all their holes,
and rigged up their bait.
They started their fishing.
And went by the book.
All Trying to entice,
A fish on their hook
Some waited for hours.
....Sittin still was a bitch,
Just watching their pole,
For that first little twich.
The day's winding down.
The fish are all caught.
The beers are all drank.
The ice hut's too hot!!
Everyone's waiting,
For someone to say,
"Let's pack it in boys,
And call it a day".
Night has just fallen.
And everyone's gone....
Home to report,
To the website they're on
The hawktalkers waited,
All holding their breath.
Even the lurkers....
For word on the catch.
Some had caught many,
....Others had not.
"Wrong kind of bait"
Someone had thought.
I read the threads closely.
And I think I can say.
I might even try,
Ice fishing one day!
But, no, not tomorrow.
And, with that being said.
"Good luck" to you all.
I'm going to bed!!
"MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE......"

Skooter, Clement C. Moore is rolling in his grave.
Actually, I think he would be proud! Great holiday cheer there...thanks...
And here are the verses you conveniently forgot.
The ice on poor Skooter,
It hung there in sheets,
Legend chuckled and said
"Winter gear sure can't be beat!"
Skooter's toes in his loafers
Were frosting up blackly,
But that's what you get
For ice fishing in khakis.
(I'll never forget those pictures.)
Ho-Ho-Ho to Skooter, from your pal & "bro"...
Wolfe
Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.

Methinks Sir Skooter will be better prepared for the ice fishing this year.
I haven't seen anyone that frozen before in my life.
Jan 22, 2005 a day that will live in infamy.
Btw. Wolfe, WTG on the extra verses.
Merry Christmas all and to all, I hope you get a bite.
