Home made lures
Just made a few cedar poppers. Doing stuff like this or tying flies seems to make the winter season passs a bit quicker. Can't waite to give them a go next season.
I was wondering if any Hawk-talkers make their own baits? If so, I'd be interested in seeing some of them as, I am sure, would others

Is that you Will? Like I said, I should have a new batch in January, they'd be good for those big haliburton largies too.canukflyguy wrote:Sweet Coop, if your interested in selling any I'm In! Would be awsome to try for some Haliburton smallies
Both. They're 'stick-on' eyes, but I have carved out the sockets so that they are countersunk.slop wrote:Those poppers are some fine works of art Coop! Are the eyes countersunk into the bait or are they stick-on's Just curious.
I got the wood from a cedar that blew down on my father-in-law's property.wolfe wrote: do you buy the bodies (wood?) unfinished and work from there; or actually carve them yourself????
They're all hand carved so there are slight variances in the shape of the body from lure to lure. I test them all once I'm finished.
The funny thing is that I'd rather fish one that sit's a little askew in the water than one that sits 'perfectly'. I like the erratic action, it seems more natural to me.
I look forward to it.Mr.J. wrote: I'll be making a good size batch of spinnerbaits with bucktails this winter, maybe we could trade some
