back from BOQ! (part 2)
3am rolled out of bed (just as Misses Livewell was getting in from her night out).
Dressed and on the road at 3:30am in the pitch black.
Saw 2 deer at different parts of the 416, and nearly hit the one that was standing right on the side of the road. Man, that drive will test your nerves.
Passed Big Jim on the 401 in Kingston. Not sure where he was headed, but he didn't have a boat. Was gonna honk and wave, but he looked like he was having the same kind of venison auxilarating drive as I was.
Arrived at the ferry at 6:20 ... just in time to watch it leave for the otherside. Half an hour later I southward bound. They were calling for 25K winds today, but the morning was nice and calm. Here is the view from the ferry. (Wow, just re-read this ... not much of a view )
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v216/ ... eFerry.jpg">
Hit the Sportmans and followed Hoss and FFF down to the launch.
Man, it was a rough ride going against the waves to set up for the drift. A nut-buster for sure. But we started our first pass around 8am. First fish on around 9am. The boys were gracious enough to pass me the first fish.
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v216/ ... 2_2lbs.jpg">
This one came in at around 12lbs. Funny story around this, I had brought one trolling rod and reel combo. Well actually it is a bass rod/ trolling reel combo. The reel slipped out of the road somewhere around 300 feet of line out. The boys were doing an emergency tape job on her, and we did managed to get the fish in. Guess I need to do some shopping for a real trolling rod now.
9:30 seemed to be the time when the fish turn off. We had seen another boat near by fighting one right around the same time as our first. But the radio chatter after that indicated the fish were not cooperating.
Just was well though, time flies when you are in a boat with these 2 fellas. We managed to get caught up on just about everything under the sun. Fishforfun brings the best 'sailor snacks' including these crackers with cream cheese and red-pepper jelly he was catering us with.
Also, I brought along Misses Livewell. Well, not actually Misses Livewell, but rather Mrs Wonderful, who was a gift from the Misses so I would always remember how wonderful SHE is.
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v216/ ... derful.jpg">
Here we see her snuggling up next to Big Hoss ... I told you she liked you better than me.
Well, not to be outdone by FFF's wonderful snacks, I brought along a bag full of balogna sandwiches (balogna ... the 'other' white meat ).
And, as it always seems to happen, as soon as you get distracted, the fish pounce.
Hoss was quick to get on this one. With the assist from FFF on the planar board.
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v216/ ... Planar.jpg">
Without having to fight the planar. Hoss is a little happier. And he works this fish out the net.
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v216/ ... ossNet.jpg">
Here's the beauty.
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v216/ ... _6lber.jpg">
Hoss's scale read around 6lbs. Personally, I don't think it was that big. Ok, so maybe it was another Quinte double digit eye.
Wouldn't ya know, before Hoss can settle in a get another bite of his sandwich ... Fish On! and FFF steps up to the plate.
Martin took his time getting this one into the boat. BTW, FishforFUN says it all, this boy enjoys his fishing ... look at that grin.
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v216/ ... ingfun.jpg">
FFF's reward for his patience
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v216/ ... BigOne.jpg">
This was the best pic of him, as the fish covered most of his face.
A couple more ...
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v216/ ... nthere.jpg">
"hey Martin, while you're down there"
We decided to pack it in at this point. Everyone had a great fish and a long day. The weather wasn't awful, but the seas were pretty rough. I know pics of waves never do them justice, but compare this one to the ferry picture above.
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v216/ ... /Waves.jpg">
As we made our way to the launch, we found Eye-Tracker and Smitty just pulling out. Nice to meet you Smitty and to see you again ET.
BTW, we were all drooling over ET's new kicker. And then, as a tease, ET shows us these wonderful new planar board fishing rods he is trying out. The cats meow for sure.
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v216/ ... Smitty.jpg">
Well, we shook hands and heading on our merry ways. FFF, always a pleasure spending a day with you. Thanks a million for the crackers and the gum drops, and the jelly beans ...
Hoss, thanks so much for much for inviting me. I always have a ball whenever we hook up. That musky invite (albeit I'm not a savy muskie fisherman) is open, so please take me up on it! If you ask Misses Livewell, she is sure to let me go.
Now, gotta get my stuff ready for Tuesday. Woo Hoo!!!

In MT's defence on the bass gear, the trolling reel was a left handed Okuma, with a line counter, he had just bought Problem was he didn;t realize the reel wouldn't fit properly in the rod seat of that rod Markus if you have a spare trolling rod its worth trying the left handed reel, having your right arm towing those big ones is nice! Squig had an Okuma line counter reel RH as well, very smooth reels too bad we couldn't see them handle a big chinny.
MT your always welcome to fish with Tie and the boys, next time I'll bring Mats instead of Wade with me

Nice going guys! Martin, sorry I didn't make it up to drop off the breadmaker to Big Bob. I'll be going this weekend but I don't know if he's going to be up. I'll e-mail him and see when he's up next.
I'll be fishing with Superdad this weekend at the "park" that shall remain nameless Hope to see you there or on the water.
cheers
Ken

Some more pics from Sunday
A quick repair of MTs equipment with FFF to the resue wearing his lucky shirt.
MT was pretty comfortable during the slow periods. Not sure if his doll and his pink camera bag had anything to do with his comfort zone.......maybe it was the rivetting conversation...........
Perhaps it was the sailer food........thanks FFF
I love these pics........too bad Angler Idol is over FFF
A great time this weekend and although we didn't slay them it was still good to feel a fish on the end of the line a few times to break my recent slump.
