Things started off great as I was chucking a frenzy and catching hundreds of bass. Sleded was in the back using other lures like a fool, because we all know the only lure to use at the outflow is a Frenzy. But still he stuck with his precious tubes and had a few incidental smallmouth catches.
The next fish I hooked was somewhat of a surprise.. but a good surprise! It was a perfect EATING SIZE laker straight out of the outflow current.

It went immediately into the cooler of death along with our 12 smallmouth, 50 perch and 2 surprise walleye. It was enough fish to hold me over til breakfast!
So we started up our logical choice, the gas powered Johnson. Uh oh, engine troubles! First my kicker came flying off and into 100 feet of water. I was totally annoyed at this and couldn't understand how it came off even after I sat it on the gunwale without clamping it down.
So then the big motor had a few problems too. I am so glad I chose a Johnson motor, it never gives me any troubles. So it was totally shut down and I had to radio the coast guard in to give me a tow. I did have to complain a bit because the coast guard refused to go slow enough for me to troll for more suppertime lakers.
So we got to the boat launch alright, but I saw some folks at the launch pulling smallmouth from their livewell. It seemed they had 2 fish over their limit. Okay, I wasn't certain, but I assumed by the way they were pulling them out of the livewell and putting them into a pail. POACHERS! I immediately called the MNR to check them out, but decided that would take too long. I confronted them myself as sleded stayed on hte phone with the MNR, OPP, Fire Department and Army. I then used my citizen's rights to confiscate their boat and equipment, and the nerve of the people - they got angry and told me they had only their limit of fish! I am too sly for them though. I handcuffed them, frisked them and was on my way home.
On the way home though, I had a little visitor. He wondered why someone would be pulling a boat through town on such a drizzly day! He had to pull me over. This is my 500th run-in with police this year.

Well I gave the officer 6 of my smallmouth fillets and like magic he decided to let me off with a warning this time.
I was glad to get home with the bass hound at the end of the day and eat my relatively small supper of a 25lb laker, 6 4lb smallmouth, 40 perch (I gave 10 to sleded), 6 ducks from the day before, a stuffed moose, and we can't forget the sausages. I am a big fan of the sausage.

Nothing like a day at the outflow, even though I despise bass.
