Thanksgiving Bassin

Thanksgiving Bassin

Post by nighttroller »

Well PENG and I headed out this morning to do some smallie fishing on the Ottawa. Last Sunday we got onto a spot that prodeced a few nice smallies and one really nice one.

Image

We went straight to the spot where we caught this one and spent an hour or so working the area without a hit. Time to change strategy! We decided to hit some of our largie spots that have produced previous years in the fall that we hadn't fished this year. It was a good call! The firs 15 minutes produced this hog! I thought I might have my first 6lber as she was fat but the scales settled at 5.8. So close!!!

Once we got onto the largies we caught 8 more with a few pike thrown in. Here are a few of the nicer ones.

PENG gets into the action

MT was trolling by us when I caught this one!

What a great way to spend thanksgiving morning!

Mark, I always let the fish tell me what they want. We threw senkos, tubes, and Jig and trailers. Today it was the Jig and trailer that was really working so once they starting hitting it, I stuck with it!

PENG's smallie we thought would go high 4's but it was skinny so it topped out at 4.1. We thought he had a Musky on though as it tore off a few good runs! The Largie's were very lethargic today, not much fight at all!
