A good sign.....more muskies....

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

A good sign.....more muskies....

Post by RJ »

Got out with Gordo tonight chasing muskies again..... :)

No monsters tonight....but a pair of beautifully marked smaller fish....(28 and 29 inches)

I love seeing fish this size......shows good things for the future....

Image

Perhaps the nicest marked fish I've ever caught....

This was a highlight of the night.....

Hey there RJ anybody can catch a bass by the mouth but very few can SNAG'EM where you did.The way those bass were chomping on topwater baits this summer I thinks the suns rays affected their eyesight. I know of another angler going by the name of "fivefishlimit" has done this twice and I was with him both times.Takes very sensitive fingers to know when a fish is dumpin on your bait.
The Musky shots are nice, future looks good or the fishery.
Is there a limit on Cormorants a person can catch in a day?
Liked your emmis for BBBBB
Hopefully see you at the Rumble and theCorel center this winter.

Very nice fish, were they all caught on topwater?

I noticed you have what looks like a 12 inch leader attached to your topwater lure, do you find that you pick up a lot of floating weeds? I don't use a leader on my topwater for that reason, although I suspect when I get my first bite off I'll go back to using one.

Maybe because the swivel part of the leader is so far away from the lure it makes no difference if you pick up some floating weeds.

I took the afternoon off to fish the lower ottawa Tuesday and found the action a bit on the slow side - using a topraiders, dancin' raider, reef hawg, creppey crawler and big spinnerbaits - ended up with 3 pike only, but i did lose a good muskie (estimate 45 inch) after a 30 - 45 second battle from a spot I had never fished before. I missed lots of fish (mostly pike) on the topraider, maybe because I had to cut one of the tines out on the upper treble after I stuck myself on the leg on Monday - first time I stuck myself ever. That is how you cut a fishing trip short.

Plowjock,

Hope to see ya at the Rumble...or at the Corel Centre..... :)

Mr. J,

I always use a 12 inch titanium 7 strand leader.....no matter what bait I'm throwing for muskies......get out of the Rideau.....that's where the floating weeds are... ...they aren't an issue on the Ottawa....
