Crappie Fishing - June 1st

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Crappie Fishing - June 1st

Post by BBRich »

Headed over to one of my favourite crappie ponds (I'll keep it a secret but if you know the area you'll guess it from the background) to see if there were any left to catch.

To my surprise, the crappie bite was constant all day! Got them all on 2 inch grubs below a float right in the thick brush.

Not too great a size to em, my 2 biggest were 9 and 10 inches, but the action was consistent all day so it kept me busy. I was worried about getting too many OOS bass here, but we only got one in about 6 hours fishing so I guess that wasn't too much of a problem! Lots of rock bass and a nice bluegill too.

At the end of the day I had 8 keepers and threw lots of keeper size ones back, just wanted some fish for dinner. And they tasted great!

Can't beat a beautiful day like that (warm and sunny all day too!)!

Nice work on the pannies Rich. Can't beat a feed of Crappie. Good to see they are still hanging around.

Great work Rich

:) Excellent effort Rich!

I never knew Simswitches were made with Crappie meat...

One of these days we'll hook up. Let me know if you're ever available in the evening for a fish. When Bass opens I'm heading straight for Hoovers.

Legend, right now with a lack of work I'm available EVERY evening for a fish!

Would love to hook up with ya sometime and hit the lake. I just gotta ask, why head to Hoover's when the big bass are still over in the bay on opener?

As always, great pics, great report. You are one prolific fisherman.

Just one question to everyone who knows/fishes with BBR.... Has anyone EVER seen him without a hat?

How far are you from Hamilton, Rich? I'm going to be working there this summer and I'm always interested in fishing in new areas.

Rich,

kinda hard to tell but are a couple of those White Crappie. You don't see those here in eastern Ont. I think they are pretty rare in the rest of the province.

BBR is a bald as a cue ball, and there is no real meat in a Simmswich...
