coyote,

There are probably a lot, but one that comes to mind is "slab". A "slab", in my books, usually refers to a really good-sized panfish, rockbass, etc.
Some times also called a "dinner plate". A really good-sized bass or other gamefish, might be nick-named a "lunker".

You've probably already heard of these, but just thought I'd mention them as they're terms I use / hear a lot.

One I didn't know, but picked up here, is "dink". Assuming that's a pitifully small walleye, or other gamefish, right guys?

Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.

Wolfe,

I am sure everyone know what you mean but on a thread describing slang terms you used a slang term to describe a slang term.

You use the slang term "slab" to desribe the slang term "Pan Fish".

I just found it funny and it goes to show how the slang terms for different fish are used interchangeably.

On a side not we woun't get into the whole Pickeral/Walleye thing.

ha! Rex, don't even go there!

...and you're right about the "pan fish" thing, though I've used that term for so long now I guess I never gave it a 2nd thought. Funny!

Here's another slang term that I am more than familiar with: "washing lures", meaning not catching a @#$%&! thing.

If you're in the prairies (certainly in Sask at least):

Jack/Jackfish = Northern Pike
Mariah (sp?) = ling/burbot

In NS:

Gray Trout = Laker
lake trout = a trout caught from a lake, or generally a trout (speck) slightly larger than normal

My favourite:

Snot-Rocket = fiesty little pike
There are few problems in life which can not be solved with a well-placed, high-explosive projectile.
