IF you want, stop by my place and I'll show you how or if you want to wait until I put my bassboat in the water then I could help you out directly on the water and also share some tips.LeGrand wrote:No offense taken. Now close to 60, the Zebco style (Spincasting) served me good over the years, some still in good shape. Good for wife and kids (although now in their 20).
I loved the fact that you could place a lure on a spot, and when I saw the new baitcasters and the risk of line backlash, I was afraid of using one.
Hope I learn how to properly set-up my new reel and control it properly.

Appreciate the offer.
Haven't looked at the garage addict rods, but thinking I may just buy a new one. I've been looking at various make and brands, and even the travel rods (3-4-5 pieces).
Difficult toake a choice. Maybe I should go various local stores and "sniff around".
One of the travel rod is 7'6".

Paddletails, it's a little bit of a drive, but well worth it and it's literally wall to wall baits and rods..LeGrand wrote:Appreciate the offer.

I'd have to agree with ShawnD here. Paddletails is worth the trip. When I got back into fishing a couple years ago, I stopped it to pickup a new rod and reel, and Ed was very helpful and found something right in the price range I wanted, and for the type of fishing I wanted to do. That knowledge goes a long way in making your trips more enjoyable.ShawnD wrote:Paddletails, it's a little bit of a drive, but well worth it and it's literally wall to wall baits and rods..LeGrand wrote:Appreciate the offer.

Paddletales is only about 30 minutes south of Ottawa (give or take) ... heck I think my truck gets upset at me if it's not on the road to Winchester by 6:00pm on Thursday nights. Thursday evenings is when quite a few of the local bass anglers go out to chat and get their "winter fix" so there is a wealth of knowledge regarding rods, reels and techniques and Ed's always got a rod or two already strung for those that want to practice pitching or, as in your case, to have someone show how to pitch or flip and have hands on practice.
Can't say enough good things about PTales for sure!

One of the best drives you can make... no matter the distance.
For me it's a once a year deal... mostly cause it's 4 hours driving, and I leave with a bank-account outta luck or a Visa on Fire!
If I went there when they were serving fried chicken and stuff... i'd have to hitch-hike back home after 'hauking the truck!
