Check my post. Should make a lot of folks happy.

Thought you guys might find this interesting. I hooked up a "giant selfie stick" to my go-pro and am really surprised how terrible the visibility is at Shirley's Bay. In the summer it is pretty clear.

Looking sideways I can't see anything, so I set the camera looking up at the ice, and the stick is about 8 feet long. You can see that even in the middle of the day standing on a clear patch of ice, visibility is very low. In case you are wondering about the odd light patterns, it isn't extra cloudiness in the water, it is two snow-drifts on top of the ice.

cool video, thanks for sharing! I'd imagine with the high water and lots of current, there would be a lot of "stuff" stirred up throughout the river . . .

Was out last night 3-5ish with my little guy, got a small perch and a small sauger, we're planning stay later next time (maybe pick up a pop-up shelter too so we're less dependent on decent weather for a 6yr old)

oh, and to the guys with the Eskimo pop up who gave us a few minnows as they packed up, thanks! We caught both fish on them, and you made a kids day!

Hope the fish gods reward you accordingly!

Fished on sat with a buddy from 4-8. Only caught Two small walleye and only a couple of other light taps... Looks like it was a slow day all over the bay.

Managed to get out yesterday from 3-530 for the first time at Shirley's this year. Had lots of light hits and managed to land 5 small pickerel one being just big enough to keep. I also lost a really nice one on the edge of the ice just being carless.

Fish the lower Ottawa and you can bet on joining the "Huge Log" fishing club....

In all seriousness. Kudos to forming a new group! Hope to meet you all on the ice.

Anyone been out to Shirley's lately? I am wondering How the ice is holding up and if there will still be a suitable 12 inches to get out there this weekend.

Fished 13 feet of water a few nights ago, caught a dink walleye and had a few steal my minnows. Once it got dark we stayed 2 hours in and didn't mark a fish until i went over to the shallows and ended up catching some perch! Pretty cool to see perch biting in the dark, lots of trucks were out and one guy wen't out pretty far but i'd be careful out there no matter what

Nice to see some good sized fish being caught! It's been a tough year so far for me. Been out saturday each of the last two weekends with no keepers so far. A couple of perch, small sauger and walleye but nothing over 12 inches. I also tend not to keep perch from Shirley's as I find kept some once and they were all full of worms.

Cheers,

lenny

Way to go lads. Any day with 6 Walleye is a good one. The old champ still works great eh. Glad you got that fuel line fixed. Wouldn't have wanted to leave it overnight. Was the line collapsed?
Boy the water level sure is up out there. That area is usually about 6-7 feet deep.
