Bass Questions

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

It's also a good indicator as to who will be frowning on me for gobbling up daily bass limits. :P One of my favorite meals.

I eat fish every day.

Today, I had mussels for lunch, and I just polished off 2 delicious salmon steaks.

And theres pike fillets thawing in the fridge for tomorrow's lunch.

Cripes, you're starting to sound like the ladies.

Seriously though, I do eat the salmon and trout out of Lake Ontario. Most of my fish come from Erie. I follow the Ontario Guide to eating Fish.

What really hurts the spawning bass are the ones that take buckets with them and fish with sticks, line and worms. I have seen this so many times!. I don't want t offend any one and it is not my intensions to do so, but everytime I see it it seems to be a forigner who may not understand or know or laws on fishing, but they fill the pail up with pre-spawn bass and take'em and by the time the minestry shows up ( if they ever do) they are long gone. At least most of use make the attempt to move along once we hit a bass or two

Hey Marcus

It is your right to take home your limit , as a valid licence holder !!! I am also what they refer to as a meat fishermen :? Many bass tourny guys don't like us meat fishers...but they know and acknowledge that it is our right...maybe I shouldn't say dislike...maybe a better word would disaprove :) ..ethier way, as long as we stay within the law , and the law as been set to protect the future of our great sport and stocks, there is nothing wrong with taking a limit to eat, and I won't apologise for doing so  ......not that any one asked

I will be bring up the crappie to Muskrat....you got any smoked salmon to bring :D

Theres nothing wrong with keeping fish, Just conserve for the future and through back the breeding stock keep the smaller ones.

Markus, with the size of salmon you have been catching do you have room in your freezer for 20 of them?!

Just for the record, I'm also an occasional tournament fisherman but at the same time I have no problem taking home a few bass for the dinner table during the summer. I hate to say it, but I think they taste best!

I have 2 freezers and once you take 2 boneless fillets of them and freeze them flat, you can easily stack quite a few in!

Well Well,

I had no idead what kind of firestorm I was going to start by asking my bass questions. Im kinda new to the bass fishing thing, not too many of them swimming around in north eastern ontario lakes, and there is no season on the few that there are up there.

I guess one thing I was hoping ot learn - was if the sexes have differing growth rates and maximums, like walleye, or if a 4 punder could be either male or female in this area ?
