I dunno why I don't post very often, but I lurk waaay more than post.

I've had frigging great success when I have posted...great responses, and PM's...thanks again to all. have also met a couple FH'ers to go out fishing. both were great.

there can be some negativity on these boards..but....it's the internet, thats how things go down. I don't find this place much worse than anywhere else..and in general the tone is helpful/fun.

I post sometimes, but am generally at my trailer a ton and on the water fishing Quinte. Choose not to have the internet or any electronic devices to keep me connected!! I don`t always take pics of the fish I catch, unless I feel they are worthy, like size, color etc.
I have been off this site for awhile, I am never really in the Ottawa area so some of the posts I don`t know about. One day I would really like to fish the Rideau, and maybe I`ll trade a day of fishing with somebody and I will take them out for a day on Quinte if they show me around the rideau. (I am mostly a Largemouth fisherman though)
I still like the site, just keep the b&LLsh$% at an arms length, don`t wanna hear it.

Almontefisher,

I'm in a different a category: Haven't posted because haven't been fishing enough this year.

I haven't been able to get to my local rivers due to work. The last time was in May and water levels were a little high and the water was fairly fast. Hooked a carp, it made a few runs, took me into my backing, got it fairly close, but it broke off.

I sometimes post in the flyfishing section, but mostly on topics where I can help newbies to the Dark Side.
Time's fun when you're having flies.

well folks i love sharing my adventures sad ta say sense my truck got wrote off last year ive only made it out 4 times here on Quinte because of back/tail bone pain.

i do understand the no posting thing it happens on every site, and yes many are shy to post because of what there replies will say,BUT this is where the mods have ta step up and delete such garbage replies,by doing this it will ensure(i think or i hope lol) that the poster will indeed post again.

this is a great site with a vast amount of info and yes i too am guilty of reading a post and not replying, but many times its a ? on an area i do not know so ive nothing ta say....

one of my own pet peeves is reading a post and seeing a reply that has nothing ta do with the post but only talking to the last poster,my thoughts are send him a pm if ya want ta know how he made out fishing the other day don't cut in one some guys post and change the topic.
this is another reason why folks do not post, they figure why post when every time i do the topics changed to something else...

all in all still one of the best sites out there folks enjoy have fun and RESPECT other posters.

well guess thats my 2 1/2 cents folks

taker easy and stay safe

You don't even need to post reports and adventures to have people slander you with lies on FH. The jealousy is unreal, you just need great looks like me. If only everyone knew the truth.

I've spoken to MANY fishermen that I've met while fishing in summer and winter. Almost always, I ask if they are FH members. 90% of the time they are and 90% of those claim they only lurk on this site because of all the reasons listed above. I've even heard them mention specific frequent FH members that they just cant stand seeing being given almost free reign on this site without much repercussion if any.

I can imagine that its a tough job moderating a site and keeping it healthy. Its a fine line between giving too much freedom to post cr@p and no freedom at all that ends up in virtually nothing getting posted.

My belief is that there is WAYYYYY too much freedom to post CR@P on this site and the known trouble makers should be monitored more(if possible).

Just my 2cents worth.

Wow... this is my point, but more eloquently conveyed!!

When you see zero tolerance mentioned... yet none displayed, things start to degrade. I also noticed that the rules are there for what seems like kicks and giggles and have taken to misspelling curse words and often make inappropriate sexual references... because I know I can get away with it.

I will not be doing it anymore. I realize that it is hypocritical.

Mick wrote:The way i remember it many of those core people were causing those various issues and ironically left to start a private site because of all the issues
Hey Mick, that comment is true to a point. The same group of guys were always involved in those conflicts because they did the lions share of participating on the board...reporting, trip planning, moderating, helping others, and yes...posting in controversal threads. Their level of familarity developed into some life long friendships and when those friends openly discussed a lot of topics on a public forum eventually their comments would come under constant critisism. It came to a point where the question was asked why are they sharing personal conversations with the world when they are meant for a certain group of friends. So, a smaller spot on the net was created for those conversations. It's understandable, most members here only wanted to hear/read about spots, hot lures, hot bites, ect....they could be spared with the kid talk, pet pictures, vacation discussion, job talk, ect.

Thats all it was. It wasn't meant to exclude anyone, it was just a small corner of the web were guys who know each other personally and actively fish together could openly discuss their personal fishing/life adventures.

So from this poll I can see that we all understand what the reason is but we have no way of doing anything about it?? What can we do to make this change??? I say raise taxes!! I mean get back to the fundamentals of this site.......................................

A fishing site for people to post reports without ridicule, to help the fellow angler in his quest for knowledge, experience, tips, tricks, depths, lures, colours, techniques, and fun! So I am off on holidays for the next week and getting out a bit so I am going to report on each trip with pics and post the whole outing as it happens. If I get some people bashing me or my reports I will not reply back and will expect others not to reply back either except with positivity. Unless I get skunked then I would expect a good ribbing from ya!

It will be a tough ride but lets get back to 2004 but in 2010. If you have no pics who cares, I love imagining how the fish fought or how big it would have looked and to be honest some of you look better in my imagination then in reality anyway.

Lets have fun and fish which is what we are all here for anyway.

Mick stated it was always a core group of guys that were causing/involed in the BS problems. As stated, that core group migrated away. 5 years later, the same BS threads continue and lack of membership participation is no different. So is it a member problem? I don't think so.

It's the internet and over 90% of the members here have no idea who each of you are. So it's easy to hide behind a keyboard and comment/critisize/troll. Most of what's siad here would never be said if you were sitting around a campfire face to face. It's that unfamilarity that fuels the bs here. And I don't see that changing.

Well I am Peter Brennan from Carleton Place Ontario. I was born and raised in Almonte Ontario and have fished the Miss river all my life. I also fish Clayton Lake and Miss lake as much as possible. I own a cottage in Ompah and have been married for 3 years to my beautiful wife but have been with her for 15 years. We have a 2 year old guy named Liam who is a great kid but has hit the terrible two's recently ( that is an understatement). I just purchased a new to me boat and have been working on it getting it fixed up the way I like and also last year planned on building my own rod but it is still in the basement in the tube it came in so I hope to work on it soon enough.

This is a picture of me so you can see my face and if you want to look at it by a campfire that is your choice.
