Big Jon Planner Masts - Looking for a deal

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I wouldn't give up on it just yet. The adapter is still listed on their web site (thanks Crash).

I just ordered the adapter from the site Crash pmed me. It was $29.50 (I assume US) + shipping. I did get a confirmation so I'm hoping they still have some in stock. :D Or they never did stop making them. :?
Now I have to get the mast. 8)

If anyone else is interested
http://www.bigjon.com/store/list.asp?Su ... ductID=207

By the way - the list on the site for the Silver Dual Manual Planer rigger is $221.00 (again I guess U.S.) 221 X 1.17 = $258.57 + shipping.

The masts at BassPro are $210 US
x 1.2 for Can $$$ conversion = $252 Can

Now, lets examine the other numbers ...
$252 Can x 1.15 (15% mark up for local retailers) = $289
x 1.15 (for GST 7 + PST 8 ) = $333

I'd say if we can get away with $300 taxes in, we are laughing. Anything better than that, and the retailer is giving to us at cost.

Food for thought.

so i assume Bass Pro is the cheapest...?

i can always ask the boys at Fishing World as well...when we get a final number...

i know them pretty good, and might be able to get a good deal when we have a final number.

Went to Bill's Bait today. He says if we buy 5, they'll be $280.00 each, but that's taxes in. He says there might be an extra charge for shipping or duty, but he'll let us know.
The only drawback is he says he knows Steve. I don't know if we can trust him  (I probably don't know you well enough to make a crack like that but I figured you can take it). He spoke highly of you Steve.
Anyway. I told him there would be other items probably involved like releases etc. and I'd get back to him.

Joe, can you double check that $285 taxes included part.

One of my favorite board sponsors has been doing some fancy footwork and creative financing, and the best she can come up with is $285 +tax without taking a loss.

He was very clear about the taxes in.
If you guys think it's a good deal (I do), then let's get some final numbers and pin him down. If he screwed up and it's no longer worth it for us, then we can always back out.
Steve knows these guys better than me.
I'm not even sure how we handle the money thing. Any ideas?

Just call him with our visa number.

Joe/Steve, can you make sure the mast package includes reels and pullies. Someone thought that maybe they don't come with them. Just wanna be 100% sure of what we get.

I like that cost! :P

Price is good, I just can't decide if I would use a mast set-up enough to justify spending the money on one.

I guess we need to get the firm numbers to him along with any accesories and get a price in writing. At that point we can get him our Visa numbers as Markus suggests. Then I imagine he'll order them in.
The sooner, the better for me. I'm in for 1 and maybe a couple of boards and some releases if the price is right.
