I can only think of one trip, my last and only one down to the far south end at Red Pine Chute in an old run down camp. It was totally new water for us all to learn. Walleye was spotty, with only one 7 lb over 5. We ended up having to travel a long way to find laker friendly waters that we knew from having fished from the "hub" area for all those years.
It's been over ten years since I visited.I still follow the Kipawa forums the odd time and fishing still seems good. The only member here I know of that still goes there I think is Scuro. He'd have a better idea of what the fishing is like now.
Cheers

Yep that's where we were too. It was in rough shape at that time. And the Maniwaki road was terrible. At least the ice house was stocked though. I wouldn't go back there but would have absolutely no problem going back to the hub area though. Never been to the Laniel end.Bear wrote: LOL thats where we were, Red Pine Chute ..... Since people are posting both lakes and rivers I'll say Charleston Lake is my favourite to fish. The scenery reminds me of some of the lakes I fished with my bro when he lived in Ignace near kenora Ontario. I mostly troll around catching lakers but have never really figured out the bass. Lots of dink smallies and largies but no tanks. Caught some really nice pike trolling for lakers too. Best day on the water was a 10lb laker and a 10lb pike

Lake of the Woods without a doubt. Walleye, crappie, musky, lake trout all world class and a pretty darn good bass fishery if you are into them.
Took a limit of crappies last weekend smallest was 12.5 inches biggest 14.5. With a 17 and 20 inch walleye as incidental.

Nipigon Lake & River
Best specks, lakers and pike in Ontario. The walleye ain't bad either. Plus nooks, bows and whiteys and more. Endlessly huge, rather remote with plenty wilderness.
