For sure. I get that some people think they are the only ones that know their spot. Tards, lol, but dont stear somebody in the wrong direction on purpose. That should be against the anglers code.

We tried shadowing Ed this year, even though we had are UV buffs on, I think he caught on to us...Abort StarTzar Abort!CN wrote:These are the same type of people who will shadow Renegade Bass anglers to mark waypoints. Rather than doing the work themselves.

Jokes aside, many anglers throughout our fishing journey have proven to be very helpful.
By helpful I’m not implying GPS coordinates or Honey Holes.
Knowledge is everything, by planting a seed your interest will grow and bloom, and that’s what a panoply of anglers have given us throughout the years.
I can remember BeachBurger picking our interest in FishFinders a while back when we sold him a couple of St-Croix rods at Le Baron…
Craig and Paul with their god damn Quebec lakes…..have yet to try them, but they have shared more than enough info with us…
Gotten my fair share of advice from RJ….also tried following the Doritos trail on the Rideau (Ms Bassin) but it lead us nowhere once again.

Lape0019 has proven to be very helpful in sharing a specific bait that lead us to a very respectable finish (sometimes even Renegade members need help, were not all pro’s).
Ken and Kerry with words of the wise, Militant Outdoors for believing in us!
Fred Young, Yannick L., Charles, Simon…..and the list goes on!
Of course, it goes without saying, Ed was a game changer to us….
I think it all boils down to respect and common sense, prove yourself to be willing and you’ll end up with a pocket full of seeds.
Go out, Thursdays at Paddletales, events, shows, stores….post reports…spend time on the water, don’t expect anyone to give you info by asking "Why the big secrets" acquire the knowledge first and then try a different approach.
I’m sure you’ll figure it out….Here’s my tip, never mind the Walleye, GO FOR BASS!

If fishin ain't your mission, then you can kiss my Bass!

Now,
What Maverick says is true in almost any type of setting. Share advice and guidance, and you will get other information back. Mav and I have been sharing information for close to a year now and I think it has paid off for the both of us.
The bait he is talking about has lead me to not being skunked at all this year. They may not be big, but as long as I can feel the tug on the end of my fishing line, I am a happy camper.
Another option would be to go on a guided tour. It cost money, but you will be guaranteed to find some new to you spots to catch fish. I know Lake St. Francis is a large body of water that can be intimidating so this could be the easiest way for you to speed up the learning curve. My familly has had a cottage on it in lancaster all of my life and I still don't know where to catch many smallies. I have been provided tons of information on where to look (as in water depths or points) but never any specifics. I have run into a few nice ones, but I am still needing to spend the time to find the numbers. Sooner or later, I will get there. Now if you are talking about the Rideau, I have been fishing it for only a few years but have put a lot of time (about 3 hours once a week) into disecting certain sections which has allowed me to catch everything I could ever dream of. I had some help from friends but for the most part, it has everything to do with getting on the body of water and having fun.
And let's just be honest here. Wallaye fisherman are pretty secretive about everything. They are just that good to eat.
Good luck with getting more info but nothing will help you more than time spent on the water.

Re: Why the big secret?
Hi guys,
Thanks again for all the replies. I went out Tue night with a buddy of mine for walleye. We didn't catch any but what I got from it is how to properly ready the charts. He wanted to try some new spots out that he looked up and in doing so imparted knowledge on me on how to search form walleye holes. I guess from the time I wrote this "rant" my attitude has changed a little. I still really don't understand why some people are so secretive, but I get that a fish caught from your hard work tastes better then a fish caught from someone elses hard work. Bobber Boyz, thx for the invite, I might take you up on that one of these days. Maverick, I love fishing bass, my favorite type of fishing is flipping, but I loves to eat thems eyes though and the freezer is empty
So again thx for imparting some knowledge and pretty much telling me to suck it up princess, it has changed my attitude.
Steve

I went out with bosstonwhaler on muskrat I took him to my best spot for smallies and stressed the fact it's my number one spot I hope he keeps it under wraps for 5 years lol after that giverbostonwhaler wrote:For sure. Re: Why the big secret?
It all depends doesn't it.
I have no problem telling or taking people to my favourite spots on a sizable body of water, like the Ottawa River, BOQ, Rideau, or any largish lake. Be my guest because there are enough fish there for everyone, and most of them get thrown back anyhow, so what's the problem. If somebody did fish out a shoal, there'd be more fish move in that exact same spot by tomorrow. It's a great way to get out with kids or buddies and have a lot of fun. Share the joy.
On the other hand, when it comes to a small trout pool, forget it. I'll tell you about the THIRD best place I go, which is still pretty good, but not about the vulnerable native populations. They're too fragile to be fished hard. Some places I've fished once or twice a year for 30 years and intend to keep them that way.

Re: Why the big secret?
Remarkable,...you guys have only one or two good spots? Well in that case you better make those spots secret and a national treasure!!!
Seriously, you can't say something like the points on the north shore on this stretch of the river?
