New pricing at Lebaron?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

RJ hit the nail on the head. The money we have invested in inventory is gone. The government has gotten their piece of the action from it (gov consider inventory value increases profit, we pay income tax on it), so we must consider replacement cost when calculating profit. As well, when we order in a few new colours in say, Senkos, we need to adjust prices across the board on that item so that prices are consistent. ie a 5" Senko in green pumpkin the same price as one in white.

Last year, when the dollar swung the other way, and just as fast, I spent days repricing items lower to reflect lower replacement costs.

Simple - They paid taxes to the government on all those profits.

While I agree that taxes are high, if someone lost a business because of taxes, he/she couldn't have understood much about income vs expenses. I've run businesses before and taxes are part of your normal costs and should be accounted for in your budget. Nobody likes to pay taxes and they make the profit margin a lot lower. However, they are a known going into a fiscal year and they can be included in a budget.

The main reason why many stores are closing shop is competition and these days that means internet shopping. You can usually find whatever it is you need on the internet at prices most "bricks & mortar" shops can't compete with.

The business axiom is that there are 3 keys to success in business: location, location, location. With the internet, your location is every home and office in the world with an internet connection. Also, you can set up your company in areas with extremely low taxes and overhead while maintaining your world-wide market penetration which further adds to your profitability.

Internet is cheaper for the provider and for the customer.

I feel everyone's pain. I was looking at replacing my 15 year old baitcaster this year. Now, I'm not so sure. Le Baron's 08 price for the Daiwa TD Advantage HSTA 139.94 the 09 price is 181.94. I thought there was a pricing mistake in the store. Unfortunately, there wasn't a mistake. Now I am keeping my eyes open for a used one. Does anyone have any good/reputable sites I can keep an eye on for a used one.

Thanks

They lied to their employees.........while they built plants in China, Korea & Mexico with those profits. Then used the excuse of a loss of contracts (which were sent to China, Korea & Mexico) dwindling profit margins and finally the CDN dollars strength to close the first of all their plants in Canada.

New Prices

Post by Joey Rat »

Okay I'm not looking for sympathy here but single malt scotches have also gone up at least $20 across the board.

On top of that nobody is bringing me my Cohibas from Cuba this year.

Nothing like a nice single malt and a cigar at the end of a long day fishing.

That's pretty much it unless you find a lost truck load of stuff spread out  on a road somewhere. Might stop in Stittsville, Carleton Place and Perth on the way to tranquility base.

Ottawa needs a Cabela's or BPS to make lebaron's get their act together.

oh well...it is what it is...are people going to stop purchasing baits?>>>>>>NO........are people going to stop making plans with their buddies to go on annual fishing trips or even for that matter, weekend trips and spend piles of $$$$$ at their local fav tackle shop because prices have increased>>>>>NO....

Gimme a break.....how many of you F-H members have gone into your local tackle shop to pickup a bait that you've either read about on the internet or heard from a buddy and walked out because the prices have increased????? .....

How many of you limited your fishing or cancelled your annual fishing trips last summer because gas was over $1.30/L :?: .....I would say a very low % did...

IT IS WHAT IT IS 8) :D

actually I was talking to a supplier today and his take on it was that top end rods/reels etc. have increased up to 45% in cost...now figure in a $200 reel and a $300 rod...thats a difference of almost $250.00 after taxes...

Bait, tackle and other supplies are following in line.....now for those that already have almost everything they need, buying a couple more lures will not break the bank but it most certainly will have some impact on new angler numbers.

It's unfortunate and I am lucky to have everything I need and may just right off 2009 as a "no purchase" season.

Makes me kind of glad I spent all my money in the past

I am however in the market for a new bowmount but haven't seen much increase in price....."yet"

Some people are on a budget TMH....or have priorities to spend money on that doesn't include fishing!!

Just a thought..
