TROUT IN HULL.......next week

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I think this is a great idea! I'll be there on Monday morning after the weekend in order to avoid the huge crowd.

Joco, I think it would be good to post the Quebec limits for the three species.

Cost of raising 12,000 Trout = ?
Cost of transporting Trout = ?
Cost of staff to stock Trout =?
Cost of staff to attend function = ?
Cost of getting a kid hooked on fishing instead of drugs or booze = PRICELESS.

I agree with Joco and I think that Pints has hit the nail on the head!!!!! It is a Family Fishing Weekend. It is not everybody from the city that can jump in a car and go fishing for trout. This way the whole family can jump on the city bus and get out close to the Creek toss out a worm off of a small bobber and catch trout, I am sure that a lot of inner city kids will be ecstatic of doing this next weekend. I know that Joco is very involved in this and enjoys spending the weekend there helping out(even if he could be in his yak instead), so if you can't support what i think is a good cause , why don't you keep your negative comments to yourselves.

It probably wouldn't be as popular an event if it was any other type of fish.

QC is famous for it's trout fisheries and most target small trout in streams and lakes year round.

This weekend is first and foremost a family fishing weekend and by no means do they try to pass this on as a stocking program, it's a way to introduce people to get out fishing as a family.

The creek is in an ideal location for people around the Outaouais region to join in this activity. Not to mention that the creek is only about a mile long on a bike patch which allows for folks to fish easily from shore. Yeah the trout get eaten up by pike and probably won't survive winter but the main purpose is for this family fishing weekend in an ideal location. They used to do similar things in Lac Beauchamps where they would drop thousands of trout each year and some were tagged with large $$$.

I don't really think this is about the cost of dumping in 10K trout as that is probably negligeable considering their size and I'm sure they get some kind of volume discount since they stock throughout the province. Most of QC probably don't have too many eye, pike and bass fingerlings, surely even less any kind of panfish.

QC has done wonders to keep their fisheries sustainable. Between slot sizes and no live bait throughout the province.

I've been the last 2 years with my oldest daughter, between fishing, face painting, balloons and the miscellaneous attractions the kids have a blast.

I know these guys are open to suggestions on alternate spots and possibly species if it's something feasible.
