Markus, I could not have awnsered those questions any better, Awsome! Im sure not only Bird, but many have gained off that reply bro!
And Markus is also right, there is talk on the table right now, after speaking with Cam from the MNR to improve standars on the "Trib fishing" Laws.
And Squig, so true and uterly disgusting!I had a loose female that offered her eggs at will, and also there was a young man who had been fishing properly all day with a float, in deeper parts of the river, and he graciously asked if I would mind if he kept the fish, I obliged with no hesitation, but for those who think thier angling skills put them in a higher archy when the river is full of fish and you can tell stories to all how you slayed these monsters with 50lb mono and a 3 ounce weight with a 5/0 hook, your days are hopefully #'erd!

BTW Float, hope you don't mind, but that pic is now famous around my office. I'd give them the link to Fish-Hawk, but then everyone would know how I spend 3/4 of my work day.

thanks

I was catching them with my hands when I went no joke they were so abundant. I landed ten lost 5 times that, got frustrated it was so crazy.. Lost alot of hooks, weights, floats. Was incredibly fun and let them all go.... I got pics of mine to but I dont ahve scanner.. There were hundreds and I mean hundreds....

Easy Float, better to educate than berate the boy
Haven't seen a run like that in a long time! Late 70's early 80's saw one in the Credit River simply awesome, snaggers were all over it
Hand lines were the weapon of choice then 3-4 ozs of lead on sea fishing line with a half doz. trebs above it 1' apart
You'd hear fish on and a mess of lines were going down river every guy claiming he hooked/ snagged it. Quit trying to fish real early that night!! The fist fights and verbal abuse eventually had 2 guys squared off with fillet knives, MNR broke it up, but as young lads we scored a lot of beer from coolers while all eyes were focused on these idiots! Just a memory not a suggestion!

Yeah, i kinda wish they would close it down as well, let the spawning in the tribs take place... When these guys yank in a salmon that is in rough shape, they take a lotta food away from any of the fry of the salmon to eat, as well as the other fish and creatures in that creek. In BC they showed that they actually introduce dead salmon carcasses to the inland waters to help the cycle of life there.... even if they did it for 6 years or so it would help a lot in seeing how productive the fish are. There are plenty of rainbow to be fished right behind them

Spawning Fish
If that is port hope that looks like it just above the bi-way hole ,Too bad it's closed as of last friday your right FF they do give a good fight. I was there 2 weeks prior And landed 12 or so and one very nice 4 pound male brown. The day we were gonna leave it got a huge run because of a lil rain we had over night so we booked the moetl for a second night and fished all day. Had a blast ...

FF
What he meant by catching with hands is that more then i can remeber fish were jumping onto the bank almost knocking your feet from underyou. More then a couple times we were throwing them back in so they can continue there journey. So don't be so quick to judge.. He meant nothing but showing that picture might encourage ppl to move up there. Alot of ppl don't know the fishing regualtions in that part, actually i bet half the ppl on this board are not familar with them. And for the lack of ministry on that river this would not improve the situation at hand. I think it was a good post FF and i'm glad you had a blast but next time you should get all the facts before you call names , give threats and brag about how much you know the water. Anyway too all those that haven't tried fishing for some big brute salomon on port hope in the peak season your definitly missing out. You gotta try it. Experience of a life time, like FF said....

Hmmm...
Mr. Bassboy.
Perhaps you read a different post from SS because the way it reads to me is that he was catching them with his hands. He landed ten and lost five. Nowhere does it read that they were jumping onto the bank into his arms and then he threw them back. Perhaps SS was embellishing just a little too much...
Before you start mouthing off to someone who contributes so much to this site and the sport I would suggest you get the facts straight.

Yes but then he said:
"Lost alot of hooks, weights, floats."
So he was catching them with the rod and reel !!

The FACTS are that i was right on the river beside him and i'd know the difference between tagging fish and dragging them back into the water so there not flopping around. And the i believe the lost weights and floats were in a whole new sentence see those little dots after the words those are called periods. And of course someone fishing with 6-8 pound test is gonna loose some hooks and sinkers. I guess on this web board you have to state every detail or your a snaggin fish tagger. I was not motuhing off only being as polite as i could , saying that maybe next time you should ask questions before jumping all over somebody's post. Did you see the {lol} in SS post it meant he was kidding FF. You took it way to seriously and blew things out of preportion. I'm sorry FF if you were insulted or felt like i was mouthing off, as Duck Gunner said but that was not my intention. We too FF get frustrated if we see snaggers and guys trying to net fish or w/e sick and twisted ways are possible and i'm pretty sure most of us salomon fisherman have seen them all.

Paya,
If he was catching with a rod and reel why say there were so many I was catching them with my hands???
Perhaps the post should be a little more clearly written.
I totally see how it can be interpretted in several ways.
But in no way would I be able to extract the story, as Bassboy tells it, from what SS wrote.
If he was catching on shore with his hands and returning them to the river after they jumped out, then say that. Don't be ambiguous and say that he was catching them with his hands. It is very realistic to see how one could catch one of these fish with their hands from the photo that was posted!!! So not a very big leap from what SS writes to think someone's wading in a grabbing onto to a fish.
If Bassboy wants to be critical of someone, he should have filled us in on the real events and direct his buddy SS to be more accurate in his posts.
It would cause fewer misunderstandings to say the least.
Have a good one!!!
