Happy Ground Hog Day!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Six more weeks of hell... frozen hell.

Heck I better go charge the batteries again and get them ready to go in the boat... I can smell an early spring I think.

MT, this is no joke...in the country community I grew up in there were 2 rights of passage each lad had to accomplish at some point in his youth....

1. Was to shoot and kill a ground hog from a distance of 200+ yards...a very long shot.

2. The second was to pat a wild skunk. Oddly, this is the easier of the two.

I'm am serious about this. I lived in a very rural area and entertaining yourself asa child was very inventive.

Well, happily, I do not have any shot up groundhog tales. But...

My city slicker Mom once thought a distempered (or rabid?) skunk that staggered into our backyard a few years back was a "black and white kitty". I think Ty, who was a toddler at the time, realized it was a skunk before she did. So she almost passed the test Markus mentioned.

So I don't have a shot up groundhog story, but the skunk met a similar fate, I'm afraid. It was scary-sick, though. Trying to get into our house after the dogs, mewing and spinning in circles.

Markus you talking a 22 with open sights? Were rural here but a 243 scoped 400 yds is a tough shot too
Well if Willie is wrong the bow of my boat is about 200 yds from his pen, we'll schedule a cast and blast!

Haven't met Marcus yet but from what I've read about him so far, I'd bet he's had one in his smoker.

Greymist, right now we are in some kind of wonderfully absurd run of good weather. 30'sF and bright sun, cloudless blue skies. Four or Five straight days now. What a treat. So I'm sure Mother Nature will royally screw us all and is rubbing her hands together, cackling with diabolical glee as I type this...
