Rideau River Merrickville

Hey Guys,

Does anyone have any advice for targeting walleye from a boat on the Rideau river from Merrickville to Kilmarnock? I've never hit this stretch of the river before, but was interested in checking it out. I've had a lot of success down river and was thinking about trying a new area. Here's one from earlier this year closer to Kemptville. Thanks!

Hey Markus, great pic! That stretch from Merrickville to Kilmarnock can be productive—try slow trolling along deeper channels near weed edges, especially early morning or late evening. Jigging near structure or current breaks has worked for me in that area.

Awesome, thanks for the advice! Which boat launch would you recommend in the area. Is it the one by Boat Launch and Beek road? What do you like to troll with?
