I was thinking about buying an under water fishing camera and looking for guidance. My plan is to lower it down and run my boat about 1/2 miles
per hour. What should I know and be aware of. Thank you

Re: UNDER WATER FISHING CAMERA
Even at that slow speed the camera will swing up at an angle and may end up pointing into empty water. I would suggest sitting over structure and barely move about with the trolling motor to check out different spots. You really want the camera to be directly below the boat. Great for ice fishing too.

Re: UNDER WATER FISHING CAMERA
II have two.
I bought an inexpensive compact camera on Amazon. I use it ice fishing, position it above my minnow and watch the fish come up. You'd be surprised how many fish totally ignore your bait, they bump it and then take off like they are scared of the minnow. I also jig in view of the camera but its harder to track the lure. Probaby too cheap a camera. It can be frustrating to fish ignore the lure and once a huge walleye bit the camera and ignored the minnow. Grrrrr
The camera works better in clear water. I've used it at Petrie in murkey water and its very limited what you can see
My cheapo camera doesn't record but I do video the screen with my phone if something interesting comes up. I'd get one that could record.
Kid love the video so if you wanna fish with younger kids, get one, you can keep em occupied in the ice shack all day.
If you want to troll a camera, you need a way to keep it down. I have the acqua strike vu on my downrigger ball. Its one that records and you view later. The only issue is the field of view is hard to get right so I put the lure really close to the ball on a short lead which keeps the lure visible but probaby reduces hits. Once I had a school of smallies chase the lure, smash it and general mayhem ensued but over 10 fish whacked the lure and none hooked themselves.
