Weekend Walleye Adventure

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Weekend Walleye Adventure

Post by JimW »

Went out for a little hardwater adventure Sunday...

.... hit the road at 3 am made a quick stop at Sams Bait & Tackle in Deseronto for some nice minnows, Slender Spoons and Slidewinders

and then drove to our first spot, loaded up the smitty sled and headed out...

.... popped a few holes... checked the depths and set up ....

got a few small perch but nothing to write home about ... moved a bit shallower but same deal... just a few small perch and some lunch... then we packed up and headed back to shore.

Loaded up the van, then quick Timmy's drive-thru and then made a quick stop at Rovic Custom Rods to pick up a new custom lake trout ice fishing rod then checked the Navionics and came up with a plan for the afternoon and headed to our new spot.

Loaded up the smitty again and we were off, followed the gps to our spot and got set up again. Started catching a few perch again but finally as the afternoon when on we rewarded with a few walleye for our efforts, nothing huge, but I love all walleye. Marked a few big fish moving in to take a lot at my bait, but they had no interest, even switching between 3 different lures every few minutes, but the big ones stayed tightlipped. Packed up around 6:30 pm and headed for shore.

A quick spot for gas on the way home and pulled into my driveway around 9 pm.... all in all a great day out... the weather was amazing... 6 km of hiking plus getting a few fish at a new spot... cannot complain.
